I feel whoever wins that goes on to beat KC and advance to the show. I know schemes and luck always play a part, but we just don't match up well with Baltimore. Unless we see something different like more 3 LB formations and single high safety I don't expect it to change. McD is stubborn with his defensive philosophy. Expand I think we’ll play 3 LB some assuming everyone’s healthy…we tried it briefly in the first matchup but morrow was the third LB due to injury and he got picked on 1 Quote
NickelCity Posted January 11 Posted January 11 The Chiefs seem to be clicking. I fully expect them to turn it on. As others have said, it's down to the Bills. We need to play four clean games with high execution n a row. Quote

machine gun kelly Posted January 11 Posted January 11 McD is not stupid. He doesn’t have Milano, Williams and Bernard last time. Taron is getting some bench time this time and it will work. We’ll also see lots of Jordan Phillips a bit for beef on top of Ed and Daquan. 1 Quote
Buddy Hix Posted January 11 Posted January 11 McD scares me the most. His defence underperforms every playoffs and he chokes in big moments. KC and Baltimore are the two teams I think Buffalo loses to on the AFC side. Hopefully the Bills can play theur best football for once when it counts and go all the way. 2 Quote

Expand I agree, Buffalo Playoff defense has been "concerning" for lack of a better word these past 5-6 years. The QB's in the playoff's are much better than what we rack stats up against during the regular season. KC to me is probably #1, going 0-4 against them if we make it to the AFCG this year would be a huge story line that I very much hope we can avoid. Quote

Fetou Posted January 12 Posted January 12 The scariest thing is that even if the Bills defense gets absolutely torched for 40+ points with little resistance and Josh Allen keeps the game close with his usual top tier playoff performances, we're just going to trot McDermott back out there again next season, and potentially with a new unproven OC. 2 Quote
BillsGuyOutWest Posted January 12 Posted January 12 18 degrees, some snow in the forecast next Sunday. Lamar wont be able to move that well in whatever Michelin Man gear he’ll need to stay warm. Between that and the crowd noise, you key in on Henry and you win the game. Quote

Expand This is something that’s said to nauseous levels. We get it, he has one of the best ever and has had some absolute follies and blunders that are equated to wasting Josh. However, the guy has done a stellar job of putting a franchise in a position of success and that success to be an expectation. There’s been let downs that warrant questions but on the bright side, if he flops this year (no Super Bowl or a heartbreaking loss in the AFCC) then next year it really has to be Super Bowl or bust. Coaches are an after thought but I’m telling you man, anyone who’s played sports collegiately or pro-am can attest that a coach makes the difference between consistent winners and consistent losers irrespective of talent. 2 Quote
folz Posted January 12 Posted January 12 We proved that we could beat KC and Detroit. So, they shouldn't scare us. But no question, if the Bills make it through, KC in KC would probably be the hardest game. The Bills are going to have to not be in their heads about losing to them 3 times in the playoffs (like the 90s teams got in their heads about playing poorly/losing in SBs by the 3rd and 4th ones). The Ravens game was in Baltimore and was early in the season (week 4) when the Bills were still trying to figure out who they were, and they were playing a lot of first-time starters or players new to the team (Hamlin, Rapp, Dorian, Spector, Hollins, Samuel, Davis, Keon, MVS, Bishop, Carter, etc.). I think we are a much different team now (adding Cooper, getting Milano back, the season-long experience for the new and young guys, etc.), so as long as we don't give up an 87-yard TD run to Henry on like the first play of the game, I think we can minimize the damage (not stop it) of their run game (especially if we can get out to a lead and force them to go away from it). So, no question, it wouldn't be an easy game by any measure...but I don't know if the Ravens scare me. I think we're still the better overall team...especially at home. Henry is definitely a scary player, especially with our style of defense, and he did crush our defense for 199 rushing yards and 2 TDs earlier this year. But, McDermott's defense has actually fared better than you'd think over the years vs. King Henry (albeit when he was on the Titans and not the Ravens, and we had different players on Defense). Sean has faced Henry six times with Henry's stats looking like this: 2024: 24 for 199, 2 TDs 2022: 13 for 25, 1 TD 2021: 20 for 143, 3 TDs 2020: 19 for 57, 2 TDs 2019: 20 for 78, 1 TD 2018: 11 for 56, 0 TDs But, anyhow, the Bills are good enough to beat any team in the league this year. They just have to go out and do it. 1 Quote

The more productive games, both yards and TDs come when Henry is playing on home field. 2018 & 2022 are the times he was @ Buffalo. That doesn’t mean he isn’t able to run all over them on game day if we make it to divisionals but it seems to be a trend. Plus, Baltimore is a different beast than the Titan teams he’s been on ever were Edited January 12 by Sojourner 1 Quote

BigDingus Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) The Ravens. I don't think we can stop Henry, and Lamar is playing great (as much as I HATE saying that). Their defense is playing better than ours, and they already stomped us once this year. We were dealing with some injuries, but their D was playing like crap at the time, with everybody putting up a ton of points on them, yet we could only manage 10 points. So yeah, I wanted to avoid them at all costs, but now there's no choice but to play them (if we advance).
