Watson signed a 5 year, $230m fully guaranteed contract. If he never plays another snap for the Browns again, here is what he was paid:

 

He was paid $12,105,263 per touchdown. This number is the same as what his per game total would be, as he only played in 19 games.

 

He was paid $68,350 per YARD.

 

This averages out over 5 years to 673 yards, 3.8 TD’s, and 4 INTS per season.

Josh Allen in 2024 had 3731 passing yards, 28 TDs, and 6 INTs, outpacing Watson entire contract in less than 1 season/17 games, including about 8 quarters worth of him sitting on the bench after shredding his opponents… not including either of their rushing stats (hint: Josh won that too by a LOT)

What are the chances that Watson feels bad for screwing over the Browns with his absurd contract and lack of availability to play? Yes probably wishful thinking that he even slightly cares.  If he had the slightest shred of accountability he would cut the Browns a deal and retire. What a disaster!

That’s actually good for the Browns. They took out an insurance policy on him and will get cap relief.

The Browns saga is only going to get better when Shedeur Sanders pulls an Eli & tells the Browns not to draft him at #2. They'll draft him anyway, he'll force a trade, and the Browns still won't have a QB.

They also already have $40M currently in Dead Money for 2025.  $22M is for Cooper.

Drafting a QB in a weak class with NO MONEY is suicidal.  I expect them to do that because they are idiots.

They will not be able to field a competent team until 2027.  Drafting a QB now is a waste of time IMO.

It's crazy to watch this whole situation play out since the Browns moved on from Mayfield for Watson, and everything that has transpired since. His career and that organization have gone down the crapper.

In the end the only serious teams were the Falcons and Saints. Browns were out according to Watson. Neither of those NFC teams had reached an agreement for compensation and the Browns swooped back in with their mega offer. They were the only team to offer not only a ridiculous contract, but far more trade compensation than what should’ve been due. They wanted him that bad and continue to burn for that decision.
