Even if he is motivated enough to work through rehab, get back to the field, it's way too much time off for a QB to be effective. Plus, his mind is mush, he doesn't have the respect of his players. Yes, and I'd be saying the same thing if this was happening to them, I suppose. Morality is secondary to profits, as time has shown over and over again in America. Watson shouldn't have the respect of anyone because he's a horrible human being and a likely sexual predator. 1 Quote

KingBoots8 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) “Deshaun Watson has a passer rating of 80.7 with 3,365 yards, 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 19 games for the Browns in his career.” Watson signed a 5 year, $230m fully guaranteed contract. If he never plays another snap for the Browns again, here is what he was paid: He was paid $12,105,263 per touchdown. This number is the same as what his per game total would be, as he only played in 19 games. He was paid $68,350 per YARD. This averages out over 5 years to 673 yards, 3.8 TD’s, and 4 INTS per season. — Josh Allen in 2024 had 3731 passing yards, 28 TDs, and 6 INTs, outpacing Watson entire contract in less than 1 season/17 games, including about 8 quarters worth of him sitting on the bench after shredding his opponents… not including either of their rushing stats (hint: Josh won that too by a LOT) Edited 6 hours ago by KingBoots8 1 Quote
Livinginthepast Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago What are the chances that Watson feels bad for screwing over the Browns with his absurd contract and lack of availability to play? Yes probably wishful thinking that he even slightly cares. If he had the slightest shred of accountability he would cut the Browns a deal and retire. What a disaster! Quote

MDH Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago That’s actually good for the Browns. They took out an insurance policy on him and will get cap relief. Quote This would be recouped in cap space the following year, meaning the Browns would see that 44.3 million hit their account in 2026 if Watson is indeed out all of 2025 as he recovers from his Achilles injury. https://sports.yahoo.com/browns-eligible-massive-insurance-relief-163727876.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAE1ESO8s2toA0o8RylmikMakWOdD44lXM8B71xLM7p8oLdt-4eVlzeYvP6fV_RWwad8pCNaOkz0lWZmUpDQSRykE2jGSPUuOmYQsuDhmXjv6ACevSLy3LJC5aSfmF70Fus7B6jbiY0yPyDArustE2KmS8_Z-a5EwVf1bMlCAeq1H 1 Quote
947 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The Browns saga is only going to get better when Shedeur Sanders pulls an Eli & tells the Browns not to draft him at #2. They'll draft him anyway, he'll force a trade, and the Browns still won't have a QB. 1 1 Quote

They have the 2nd pick, take the QB. I’ve seen so many mocks, not that they mean much right now, that have them trading out or picking Hunter. Talking about getting your organization fired if they do that 30 minutes ago, uninja said: Watson is done as a player. He busted his ACL, had shoulder surgery, a ruptured achilles and now a re-rupture. If I'm the Browns I'm swallowing the medicine, eating that contract and just taking the best QB on the board at 2. The Browns will probably do that but IMO they shouldn't Browns are eating $73M in cap the next 2 years for Watson PLUS $27M in void dead cap in 2027. They also already have $40M currently in Dead Money for 2025. $22M is for Cooper. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/overview/_/year/2025 Drafting a QB in a weak class with NO MONEY is suicidal. I expect them to do that because they are idiots. They will not be able to field a competent team until 2027. Drafting a QB now is a waste of time IMO. They should trade the 2nd overall for 2026 picks and totally tank in 2025. Quote

H2o Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago It's crazy to watch this whole situation play out since the Browns moved on from Mayfield for Watson, and everything that has transpired since. His career and that organization have gone down the crapper. Quote

Neither of those NFC teams had reached an agreement for compensation and the Browns swooped back in with their mega offer. They were the only team to offer not only a ridiculous contract, but far more trade compensation than what should’ve been due. They wanted him that bad and continue to burn for that decision. Quote
