GunnerBill Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Has had surgery again. Likely to miss the 2025 season. Karma definitely got the Browns on that deal. 2 3 6 2 Quote
Bruffalo Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Cleveland is the only place where Karma still exists, apparently. I'm glad none of this worked out for them. 1 4 Quote
teef Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I just heard this. My god. I can’t imagine he’ll take another snap for the browns at this point. They’re screwed with his contract, but that’s on them. 2 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The Browns just need to realize the player and contract is a sunk cost and stop trying to force it. They have the 2nd pick, take the QB. I’ve seen so many mocks, not that they mean much right now, that have them trading out or picking Hunter. Talking about getting your organization fired if they do that 1 Quote
Chaos Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Does this allow for any sort of negotiated injury settlement? (Not sure Watson has any incentive to do that though). But Watson probably cares more about the cash than the cap hit, and if there is something that allows the Browns to get out from the cap situation, he might be willing to help with that. Quote

uninja Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Watson is done as a player. He busted his ACL, had shoulder surgery, a ruptured achilles and now a re-rupture. If I'm the Browns I'm swallowing the medicine, eating that contract and just taking the best QB on the board at 2. 2 1 Quote
gordong Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Feel sorry for the browns fans, BUT not the browns orginazation not even a little bit, glad it hurts them for the rest of that contract. 3 3 Quote

Right, but remember there were 6 teams willing to sign him. He wanted Atlanta, then Haslam threw $230 million guaranteed at him. Even if he is motivated enough to work through rehab, get back to the field, it's way too much time off for a QB to be effective. Plus, his mind is mush, he doesn't have the respect of his players. hondo in seattle Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Watson's life is a Greek tragedy. He was a very talented QB who seemed to be a respectful, courteous, hard-working young hero. But his libido got the best of him and he compromised his morals & ethics. And now his body is failing him. This is a sad - if well deserved - fall from grace. This is also further proof that America is emphatically not a meritocracy. People like soldiers, sailors, police officers and firefighters often work diligently for the public good for peanuts while anti-heroes like Watson get millions. But karma also worked out in the owners' favor - from their perspective, this was the best possible outcome after Haslam gave out that fully-guaranteed megadeal that I am sure terrified and outraged all other 31 owners. Now it will be years, if ever, before someone tries that again. 2 2 Quote

And, their fans get to sit and watch while the QB they drafted #1 overall, Baker Mayfield, who took them to a winning record in his 3rd season before being kicked to the curb for Watson, leads another team to a 10-7 record and playoffs. 4 2 Quote
