Considering Highmark Lot 1 for first time this week. Usually park at ECC because we Northtowners avoid traffic by using the route along the River and Lake.

Leaving Lot 1 which empties onto Big Tree, will we be allowed to turn RIGHT (heading west, instead of most people who will turn left and head east towards 219) onto Big Tree and then cross Abbott to continue on to Southwestern? I'm not sure how what traffic pattern restrictions we might run into.

Thanks, fam.

Can't make a right turn leaving lot 1.  I think you were doing well at ECC but the new stadium construction site has messed with the foot traffic considerably.

My suggestion would be to consider parking at Bert's Bikes.  There is a traffic light there and it's controlled by a county sheriff deputy.  Making a right turn puts you headed SW on Southwestern Drive (go figure) and a right turn at the the blinking yellow by Tops puts you headed east on Big Tree.  This may be largely what you have been doing all along which is smart.  It's the post game traffic equivalent of a naked bootleg.  I usually head home to the Jamestown area but have used that route to get to the airport by ASAP by driving to route 5 and then through downtown which is mostly empty on a Sunday.

I suspect you wanted to shorten your walk for whatever reason.  There are places along Southwestern that can put you closer and still give you the same option out but many are not paved and pedestrian traffic complicates it, imo.

I think you'll want to turn left and head toward the 219 Northbound. A right turn puts you into the teeth of the traffic monster post game. Of course that depends how soon you plan on leaving. Wait too long and you'll be caught in a traffic jam. But you could go Southbound on 219 instead and make a big loop toward Route 5 from there.

Also I thought you had to pre-buy stadium lot parking at the start of the season? Will they allow you into lot 1?

I think post season games are a new deal, but, yes, would still need the parking pass, I do believe.

Here now I give to the world my time-tested BEST route of egress.  I've parked at the same house on Southwestern for over 35 years.  I have an assigned parking spot, and all spots at this house are taken by regulars (but there are other lots around here this would apply to).

RIGHT turn out of driveway
RIGHT turn onto Brompton
easy left turn onto Sheldon (avoids everyone backed up on Brompton), take turn onto Allendale Pkwy

easy left turn onto Dorchester (never more than 3 cars in front)
right turn onto McKinley - you do this before all those losers on Brompton so they have to wait for you!
easy left turn between Aldi and Wegmans

right turn behind Wegmans and the next plaza

zig zag thru Home Depot lot

left turn AT LIGHT onto Milestrip

Right turn onto I-90

This is 35+ years of experience being granted to you.  You're welcome.

Imagine it.

A literal “Bills train” that runs from the stadium, to a large empty lot a few miles away. Harry Potter style.

Thousands of people get on the train to be shuttled away to their vehicles.

Eases congestion at the stadium and disperses it to other areas.

Charlotte tried this and it is about the weirdest experience you can get. you hop on the metro light rail and it's packed but then takes you to a million other little lots. it kind of works, kind of does.

it has obliterated the tailgate experience, as well.

North and/or East.  Or could get on 90 West if you wanted to.

But could just as easily turn left onto McKinley and head south.  Just one light at Southwestern (but you just bypassed a ton of stand-still traffic) and boom.  So when I'm driving from a game down into PA this is how I go.  McKinley til it ends (in Boston, I think), left turn, right onto 219 South.

Bit of a walk to Hammer's (especially with that big stadium they're putting in the way) but post-game I'm usually where I wanna be (Bradford PA or Rochester) as people are finally pulling out of Hammer's.  And I paid maybe $50 less.

Bravo.  Magellan would be proud of this route.

Appreciate it for sure, but Lake Ave is north of the Stadium, and Lot 1 that I'm considering empties onto Big Tree, which is south of Highmark. Abbott is closed to traffic just north of Big Tree. So I still need to figure out if I can simply cross Abbott going west on Big Tree. If I'll be allowed to, or if I'll be forced to head east on Big Tree towards the 219.

Cant you get to 20a on to 20 and cut over to 5 at bayview

The issue is my mother's mobility. She's an effing trooper, but is dealing with pain and a considerably slowed gait as a result. That trek from ECC ain't hitting like it used to LOL. So a closer lot could be worth the logistical headaches. Appreciate the insight. (We parked at Bert's for the 49ers game, I think? ECC was having issues with its card reader.)

That's essentially what it will have to be, from what I can see. Appreciate ya.

Different approach: What's the latest deal with getting into Hammer's Lot? I haven't parked there in some years. Does one need a pass (I remember getting a printable pass once in the past) or can you just queue up early AF and get in? How early before it fills up?

This is a good point.  The Bills have announced all of the Bills lots are already sold out for this game

I heard yesterday that parking at the stadium was sold out.
