If Micah was ever an option, they would have put him in last week. The fact that he did not even dress for a meaningless game means that it would only happen if multiple players were injured and he was an emergency fill-in.

I think if Codrington can't go this week Ty Johnson would fill in admirably. Assuming a Bills win Codrington will likely be fine for the next week to assume his regular duties.

I don't think the game will come down to a muffed punt. If I have to say what is more likely I think the Bills blowing out the Broncos is more likely than them losing. If the Broncos are punting in general that is a bad thing because possessions are critical.

Punt returner is the least important thing on the field. I know it’s going to sound insane when I first say it but a day will come when it happens. Don’t even put a guy back there. Almost nothing good ever happens when you field a punt. More often than not it’s a dead play. When you return it it’s always dangerous. Constantly there are penalties and other guys accidentally touch that ball all the time. Cover people so there can’t be a wide open fake and just don’t even field it. You don’t have to. In the long run… The never having a negative play will outweigh the 1 or 2 good ones

You realize that if they did that the punter would just change the angle of the punt to get even more yards just giving us bad field position no matter where they are punting from on the field.  Gotta have someone at the very least fair catch, if not return it.

Shakir is in the mix as well I think

What Bills coach said something like this " He is really not a returner, he is just a punt catcher"? Anyone remember. Wade?

Wade Phillips describing Chris Watson.

If you don't put a guy back there, they'll kick a 60-70 line drive every time.

I dont know about that.

Last week was the "Stay Healthy" game, so not sure they are going to risk Hyde's health in a meaningless game when his experience may come in handy in the playoffs.

I dont expect him to dress either way tho.

I remember somebody, maybe the Patriots, quick kicking on us on third down deep in their own end on a super windy day.  The wind blew the damn thing and it rolled almost the length of the field. All the had to do was get it past the unexpecting safeties, and let it roll…………

Put Shakir back there, fine. But he has to be instructed to waive it off.

Whoever they put back there at least has to be trusted to fair catch the ball.

Yes. Teams have to make sure they have a deep returner on punts.

Thank you.

Sorry that’s what I meant by wave it off.

I don’t need Shakir returning any kicks. But if he has to be a kick catcher fine by me.

Jalen Virgil has been activated from the practice squad to be the Bills returner if Codrington can't go.

Damn. That’s a bummer. He’s played well for us on the year.

Only one gaff but he immediately recovered the ball and didn’t look jittery the next punt/s.

It's a contingency move.  Nothing is definite, but the Bills are prepared if Codrington can't go.

If Virgil has to be the returner, it's a revenge game for him since he was cut by Denver before he signed with the Bills.

the bills special teams just has to be able to NOT lose the game. Can’t have Blocked punts, fumbled returns, bad ST penalties, missed PATs. Just play  average to below average, not terrible.

Not be surprised by a fake punt

Thought i heard it could be Daequan Hardy, but hope Codrington is back

Daequan's limited punt return stats in his final year at Penn St (the only time he returned punts) were pretty impressive. He had 17 returns for a 14.6 yard average and 2 TDs.
