Mr. WEO Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Just fair catch. Punt returns are typically negligible this isn’t a probkem 1 Quote

Kind of reminds me of Fred Jackson in that way. that said- he doesn’t have much experience returning punts. I think he had like 2 or 3 in college and has had zero as a pro. I don’t think he’s the guy based on that. It would be a reckless decision imo Yeah you are indeed correct - it's kick returns he's done previously - good call Quote

Hamlin isn't good at at much except not getting beat deep. Bishop should start this week with Rapp. He's the most athletic of the three and he's played well this past month. That said I think they will sign a veteran to play FS and pair with Bishop at SS. that’s a fair assessment-. I guess I just think rapp has been one of our better defenders this season and has earned another year. I can’t imagine Bishop being much better than Rapp has been this year and I don’t think they’ll sign a FA that’s better than Rapp. But you could be right. 33 minutes ago, Ethan in Cleveland said: I really do. Judging by McDermott's PCs Hyde is never going to see the field. They could have signed him as a position coach for all the other positive attributes he could bring to the team. Signing him to the PS just teases the fan base You hate McDermott, so I understand why you feel this way. I also think that you feel this way because you hate McDermott. While the fans may be a small piece to the puzzle, I think it’s just that- one of many reasons to bring him back Quote

I know it’s going to sound insane when I first say it but a day will come when it happens. Don’t even put a guy back there. Almost nothing good ever happens when you field a punt. More often than not it’s a dead play. When you return it it’s always dangerous. Constantly there are penalties and other guys accidentally touch that ball all the time. Cover people so there can’t be a wide open fake and just don’t even field it. You don’t have to. In the long run… The never having a negative play will outweigh the 1 or 2 good ones Is there a stat for this on the internet ? Quote

Whoever can fair catch is fine with me I do NOT want to see Shakir back there returning punts. He has been the most productive WR for the Bills, and it isn't close. Coleman is 2nd with 265 fewer yards. Just "No" to risking Shakir on the craziness and the scrums that punt returns can involve. 1 Quote

Whoever can fair catch is fine with me Believe it or not, the guy on the roster with the most recent experience returning punts is.....Keon Coleman. He returned punts for FSU last year. If you want the ball caught no matter what the winds are doing, bring up Hyde and stick him back there. If you want a guy with more recent experience, bring up the guy that Codrington beat out, but who was drafted in part for his ST chops, Daequan Hardy. Dark horse not involving PS call-ups, Coleman. Again, do NOT want to see Shakir fielding punts, just like when Hyde was our starting safety I didn't like seeing him back there. Hollins does not have NFL experience returning punts, and only 1 KR. Bishop for 3. While I think bishop and Rapp are similar and both best at SS, I also think that mcd wanted them to be similar, not to back one each other up, but to start next to each other. sure, we’ll probably draft a depth S. I’d highly doubt any safety we’d draft next year would be in the running to start unless he was another Christian Benford. A late round flyer that turned out to be a gem, rather than a higher pick selected to start. Really good safeties are usually found anywhere from round 3 to 5. Never did I imply Bishop’s career was over, I think he’s more suited for Rapp’s role and would hope he overtakes him next year. I want a true rangy free safety with speed, in the Micah Hyde mold to start next to Bishop. Rapp can play in certain packages like he did his first year here. I think defensively the secondary and DL both need makeovers. Quote

How many fair catches are there or balls that bounce off a player? Fumbles how many returns get flagged for holding? It’s constant. It’s just a play you rarely get anything of value from and there’s no risk in not even bothering. Let the ball bounce, if the ball goes inside the 5 the PR isn’t supposed to be fielding it anyway. The league average punt return is 1~0 Y/R (I looked: 9.9 Y/R actually) The Bills are 8th in the league averaging 10.8 Y/R The Broncos are 1st in the league with 15.7 Y/R No return vs 15.7 Y/R seems like a significant advantage to me. Not only does he have extensive experience at it... he's damn good at it. Over his 3 year college career Keon returned 25 punts for 300 yards which is 12.5 yards per return. Codrington finished the regular season 4th in the NFL at 11.6 yards per return. Quote

BillsFanForever19 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) They could always elevate Daequan Hardy or KJ Hamler. That's who we had doing the job in the Pre-Season before we swung a trade for Codrington. With the injury report looking as solid as it is, Codrington may be the only player Questionable.
