i imagine Shakir is the fail/safe for when they are returning punts and maybe backed up.

Shakir is the obvious fill in for a couple playoff games if it's a grade 1 hamstring strain.

Shakir did it a ton at Boise State which had some pretty crazy wind and weather. He also was the backup pr guy in 22 and 23.

Shakir also allows you to keep Elam active as CB depth which is important imo in case Benford/ Douglas get banged up

Elam/ Ingram/ Lewis all active CB depth is big

I also think Ty Johnson can do it

I mean with Ingram, Lewis and Elam there was a way. Could’ve had Hamlin and Bishop out there at safety. Not like it matters if Hamlin gets hurt lol. But I get it. Not worth complaining about

Elam was already on the field for every snap of the game, Ingram was already out there for about 90% of them and Cam Lewis is not only your primary backup at the Free but also a Swiss Army knife who you don't want to risk before the playoffs.

They played it exactly how it needed to be played and this dude is just making up nonsense out of whole cloth just to have a reason to complain.

This is one of those threads that will end up being closed but that you don't want to close too soon before everybody has an opportunity to tee off. 0:)

This reminds me of the version of this thread from the 2022 playoffs when someone posted something akin to, we're all going to die! right before the 13 seconds game.

After calling them out, the response got was "I had a few minutes to kill before the next game." So I typed what a ****, but discovered the word dick isn't automatically censored when I received a neg point from former mod.

The main problem is only 2 practice squad call ups per game. If only they could have called up more PS guys.

What a dumb post. I'm sorry, but this shows a real lack of understanding and a silly level of McDermott angst and hate. It isn't even worth explaining to you why Codrington was playing.

Let Shakir catch punts. I am serous, i would rather Shakir just catch the ball with a fair catch every time. They are far more likely to get a penalty than get any meaningful yards. If this game comes down to punt returns then they will have much bigger problems.

I expect it to be Shakir as well.

Well, we have some options at least, and should be able to get through one game:

Khalil Shakir: NFL---6 kick off returns, 8 punt returns

College---7 kick off returns, 24 punt returns

Micah Hyde: NFL---3 kick off returns, 17 punt returns

                      College---29 punt returns

Ty Johnson: NFL---27 kick off returns

College---48 kick off returns, 4 punt returns, 2 kick off return touchdowns

KJ Hamler: NFL---2 kick off returns, 3 punt returns

College: 44 kick off returns, 37 punt returns

Curtis Samuel: NFL---20 kick off returns

College---21 kick off returns, 6 punt returns

Daequan Hardy: College---3 kick off returns, 17 punt returns, 2 punt returns for TDs

Jalen Virgil: College---36 kick off returns, 3 kick off return TDs

Keon Coleman: College---25 punt returns

Tyrell Shavers: [Most interesting stat by far] College: 2 punt returns, 3 punt return TDs. How does one get 3 PR TDs on only 2 PRs? He recovered and scored on a fumble by the opposing teams punt team.

[EDIT: Shavers did not return any punts in college, his three special teams TDs (listed as punt returns) came on fumble recoveries that he scooped and scored after the opposing team's punts were blocked.]

I'd like to see that play.

Did he fumble a punt that was recovered by the coverage team who then fumbled it also before he scooped and scored?

A real coach would have been playing 10 on 11 to prepare for not taking any 12 men penalties against the Broncos.
