SoCal Deek Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago One of the biggest problems with the Rams game is that many of the players and staff live in the area impacted by the fire. As do I. We haven’t had power for two days and it’s sounding very much like we won’t until sometime on Saturday. 1 2 Quote

US Egg Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Been watching the LA local stations. In minutes you see the fires slowly moving up or down the hills, kind of like lava. Winds are suppose to amp up again tomorrow. Surprised they're still considering playing there. Edited 10 hours ago by US Egg Quote

The Pacific Northwest is beautiful but Western Washington gets its fair share of wildfires. Quote

Beautiful state. Very green, lots of trees, waterfalls, nature in general. However, the rainfall is as advertised, so it’s not for everyone. Personally, I don’t mind that. Also, where I live in WA, the threat of wildfires is nowhere near what it was when I lived in CA. In fact, there has not been one near me yet. They aren’t non-existent, but the frequency is much lower. 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The devastation across the whole region is unbelievable. Pacific Palisades are like 90% or more gone. Fires are all over the southland, more areas facing mandatory evacuations as new fires pop up. Its unreal...I will be stunned if they still play in LA, they should be using Sofi as an evacuation center for those in need. 1 1 Quote
quincy Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago It is really hard to see all the destruction currently ongoing in LA and the surrounding areas. A dumb question from a non-American, is there any reason why Seattle or San Francisco could not/would not be the replacement venue? Arizona is also a NFC West foe but the other two venues wouldn't change the time zone for the Rams plus I assume it is also an easier time adjustment for Minnesota? Quote

I'm sure that the Rams would rather play inside than deal with the elements in Santa Clara or Seattle. And Vegas, although much closer to LA, is out of the question because the massive CES tech conference is happening there and there are few hotel rooms in town. 1 Quote

I would GUESS that it's (1) physically closest to the home team and (2) it's the closest to the actual playing conditions. Indoor vs. Outdoor. Who knows? Might have to do with number of hotel rooms available. But this is just coming from an idiot with a keyboard. No idea. Quote

Because Arizona has State Farm Stadium, you know, the insurer that dropped thousands of policies in the area before the fires. Quote

All I can say is that I hope they get scrutiny for this and that any Buffalo player is never associated with them or endorses them. 1 Quote

They at some point it makes no sense to underwrite in these insanely high risk areas people are building in. It’s like hurricane and flood zones on the east coast—weather destroying homes and people just rebuild and wonder why they can’t get insured. Quote

We get our usual 5-8 Santa Ana winds per year but this was so unbelievably different. It was like a 2 day "hurricane wind" version 80-100mph. Most Santa Ana's are 25-50. I still haven't seen alot of the devastating photos because power is down day 3. And my internet satellite reception is terrible. The insurance situation will be a whole separate nightmare for thousands of people to deal with. Edited 8 hours ago by LABILLBACKER Quote
