We just moved out of the area down there Thanksgiving weekend, but its heartbreaking to see whats happening.  I have friends I have seen evacuating who are posting video and pics of the flames out their windows as they drive off.  Lots of historic businesses, homes, etc all have been devastated already and the fires are still raging.

What is crazy is about 2 days before the fires, I got a news article on my phone talking about how heavy winds could have a devastating affect on Los Angeles this year with fires.  Then 2 days later these begin and the winds are wreaking havoc with the fires.

We feel very blessed to have moved away already given we have a toddler and new born and the air quality there is horrific right now.  Ash is just reigning all over the region from what friends have been telling me too.

Hope anyone here or any of your friends and loved ones in the area are safe and remain safe!

You need to control your wife. That kind of insolence should never be tolerated.

I actually had meant to content about air quality. For those who don't see it you maybe can't imagine how bad it gets. With fires 50 miles away it is very noticeable. Youth sports get canceled. When not bad enough for canceling, when my son was a teenager he'd get asthma attacks if he tried playing during fires.

The Palisades fire is reportedly 16,000acres in size and still growing. For perspective, that’s an area equivalent to 5 miles x 5 miles in size. Just horrific.

It was crazy how the wildfires in Canada a couple years ago affected air quality here in the states. It was really noticeable for a week or more a couple different times.

Play the game in Sandy Eggo former chargers stadium or Arizona Cardinals or Vegas.

Does the San Diego Stadium still exist?  I thought it was ready to be razed?

Edit: yup; it’s gone.

I've lived in LA 66 years and I've never seen sustained winds 60-80 mph like this for 2 days. I'm evacuated and hoping the Eaton fire calms down.  Going to be a rough night.

All the best to you and yours.

It’s amazing to see how far offshore the smoke from those fires is going  - hundreds of miles.

I live in Maryland and the wildfires in Canada wreaked havoc on our air quality for a couple of weeks.

There was a noticeable haze in the air.  I thought my windshield was in need of cleaning.

Yes, and that can all change in the blink of an eye, as I’m sure you have experienced. I’m surprised you are so dismissive of the situation relative to the game considering your experience.

I'm also in SoCal, a little further South from the fires. I get what he’s saying. It wasn’t dismissive to me.

Stay safe and good luck to you and your family. Agree with you on the wind severity. Last night was bad.

Never thought in a million years I'd see an evacuation order so close to the Santa Monica pier.  Early estimates say the total property damage is over 60 billion and will rise well above that.

Does insurance cover these situations?

The Kings postponed their game and it didn’t mention anything to do with the proximity to the wildfires: "In light of the devastating effects of the wildfires in the Los Angeles area, tonight’s game between the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames at Crypto.com Arena, NHL Game No. 653, has been postponed," the league said.

I basically grew up in Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, Hastings Ranch. Moved in 2015.

An old Jewish Church we used to play basketball in 20 years ago ,is destroyed.

I have friends who live south of the 210 and Colorado Blvd.. not as affected

We live in Westwood just west of UCLA and it just feels eerie around here.  The Hollywood Hills are now also on fire.

Thoughts to everyone impacted.

Went to Universal-Hollywood awhile back, it’s built up on a rather large hillside. Upon getting off the lengthy elevator up to another level I notice a heavy clouded area on a not too distant hillside. It wasn’t a cloud, it was smoke along with burning flames. I looked around like “OMG, anyone see this”?

No one seemed to care.

I lived in Westwood during undergrad.  Blows my mind that they've had to evacuate Santa Monica.

I spent 30 minutes taking pics of every room and cabinet inside our house in case our insurance company wants to screw us. Besides so many insurance companies were abandoning California customers left and right.  After this disaster,  no one will be able to get insured...period.

That's the same thing that is happening in Florida because of Hurricanes and flooding......people who never missed a payment or even put in for a claim are getting dropped left and right......a shameful practice by the Insurance companies.

Couldn't believe the winds were 90-100 mph....the peak wind gust for me during Hurricane Milton was 70mph, and those winds were not pushing fire everywhere....terrible situation, and I hope you and yours stay safe along with all of our California Bills fans.
