Born and raised in CA since 1984.

Wildfires becoming something we had to deal with on a yearly basis is among the main reasons I left about 3.5 years ago for Washington state.

Many have done that over the last 20 years

my cousin. His dad and my grandma were siblings ….he moved to LA in the 80s and lived there for 15+ years turn moved to boise and has lived there since.

Took them long enough.

I don't know what they thought was gonna happen to make it playable in LA, just due to air quality and leaving aside that the high winds make it unpredictable how and where fires will spread

Stay safe!

We experience wild fires every year in Southern California. What’s unusual about this event is the location and number. Our fires are typically in less populated areas of the mountains that rim the entirety of the LA metro area.

It is really hard to see all the destruction currently ongoing in LA and the surrounding areas.

A dumb question from a non-American, is there any reason why Seattle or San Francisco could not/would not be the replacement venue?

Arizona is also a NFC West foe but the other two venues wouldn't change the time zone for the Rams plus I assume it is also an easier time adjustment for Minnesota?

Fair questions.

Seattle is a longer trip/flight for the home team - 2  3/4 hr - ish.  San Francisco and AZ are about the same length of flight, 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 ish.

All of the stadia are open (AZ has a retractable roof) but the open stadia in San Fran and Seattle sometimes admit pouring rain, which is probably something LA doesn't want to deal with.

AZ is gonna be easier to handle last minute logistics of hotel rooms for players, staff, and media than San Francisco would be.

It's only a 2 hr adjustment for Minnesota to LA, so it takes an hour off, and gives the Rams an hour, but I don't think that's a big deal

The Rams are used to playing home games at a neutral site.

While I wasn't raised there, I lived most of my adult life (23 years) in Los Angeles. I also moved to Washington state at the beginning of the pandemic, for a host of reasons. I hate to see this and have been in touch with many friends down there. The last time I was able to travel to LA was the Bills/Rams season opener in 2022... the only time I've been able to see SoFi. Amazing stadium. Amazing city.

Only there in 2016 for two week vacation, stayed in Hollywood and Santa Monica. Got around Malibu and up in the hills. It’s a place unlike anywhere, truly unique and beautiful. I was awestruck.

Knowing how it looked in those areas and seeing what’s happened there…..9/11 was horrific, NYC recovered. It’s too widespread in LA to expect the same.

“I just had my longtime insurance company refuse the renewal on my camp that they have been insuring for decades because suddenly it is now "too far from the nearest fire station".

I moved to a small town about 13 months ago. One of the specific questions from my insurer was the number of meters to the nearest fire hydrant. AND, whether the town had local (close) Fire Department service.

It seems like location plus having a semi-closed stadium outweighed the time zone change for the Rams.

I thought before the fires that LA would win, I still think that now but who knows how the players and staff are dealing with this.

May the fires be eradicated as quickly as possible.

But no time change for Vegas, and it's closer.

when you can't attack an argument you attack the character. well done, bub.

That you think there’s “character” to attack is laughable.

My hope is the winds will die down and the full force of the firefighting helicopters etc be made useful. Before they couldn't even fly. That's BAD unabated fire like lava. Frightening.

I read on Facebook how the animals escaping will be exhausted and parched too. For people to leave buckets of water out for them.

I’ve been watching the local broadcasts steadily. Minus the fear of attack and invasion, it is 9/11 horror like. It isn’t getting the national press run I’d expect given its such wide destruction that this country has never witnessed. There’s an ambivalence toward it that shows a side of society…..well, maybe I’m wrong.

More wind coming Monday.  25-40 mph with gusts near 60.  Eaton & Palisades fires still only 3-8 % contained.  Day 4 without power. We'll take all the prayers we can get.  Go Bills!

Over our kids' winter break, we spent time in Palm Springs and then Hollywood Hills and visited the Santa Monica Pier, etc.  First time spending any significant amount of time in So CA.  Such a beautiful and unique area and shockingly tragic what's happening there now.  Thoughts and prayers to anyone impacted by this!  And message me if there's anything tangible that I can do to help.

The beaches around Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, etc... all of those areas were some of my favorites to spend time in.. and my favorite drive in SoCal was going through Malibu Canyon. I'll never forget the first time I drove that route off the 101.

I'd guess that some of those areas will be able to rebuild slowly. But you're correct... It'll never be the same. Absolute tragedy.

Power still out?  They haven't caught up like they'd hoped before Monday, as you know it's so much worse,
