Is that what his contract said, or did you find something else?  I would assume if he's released from the practice squad, he would get a new deal if re-signed, no?

I got it from Spotrac …he has mostly been on the practice squad during his time at Buffalo as you no doubt  know … im sure there is a new contract each time he is elevated to the 53 or in this case rejoining the PS

Hes better than Carter for sure at this stage.

So cut Carter for Eli?  Doesnt make sense even if true.  Carter would most definitely not make it through waivers, and we can keep Eli on PS and have unlimited call ups in the postseason.  Im very happy hes back but he doesnt need to be on the active roster.

I'd honestly be really curious to learn more about stuff like this.  Like with Cline being signed to the Eagles practice squad.  How are the Bills notified?  Are they given the option to match or elevate?  Do the Eagles pay him day one?  Do the Eagles put him up in a hotel due to the lateness of the season?

I feel for these guys who get bounced from team to team, sometimes multiple times throughout the season.  How do they afford all the moving?  What about their family?  Etc

Im not fully across it all …each team  can protect a number of PS players each week… I think 4 maybe ? Looks like Lewis wasn’t on the list this week … Im sure he is headed to a hotel in Philadelphia..might only be there a week right if they lose ? And it’s a month maximum …I think the current team has the option to retain the player , but this would involve elevating him to the 53…

Yeah - Must be a tough gig living this way on the PS ..particularly a guy like Ankou who has been doing so 8 years now…Im surprised he was only poached the one time during his three years in Buffalo … he does seem a better player than that when he is been given his rare opportunities….I see he is on the other side of 30 now so you think this year might well be the end of the road for him …Bills have probably thrown him a bone bringing him back to the PS one more time for the post season run, one that we all hope leads to the SB…

We had a spot open because of the Mike White signing to the 53 last week, but does anyone know who got cut from the PS for the new LB?

Eagles poached Cine from Bills practice squad today.

LOVE this.  Elevate him.   Dude should be on the 53

There's quite a disparity between your view of Ankou that he should be on the 53 and their view that he was the most expendable player on their Practice Squad.

For those of you who are wondering

Tyreek Maddox Williams

Something tells me Cine didn’t mind going to Philly with a ton of his UGA teammates

No way cut Carter. I am 99% sure you were being sarcastic. Dline isn’t the easiest position to transfer from college to pro.

Little note that the Eagles had to sign Cine to their 53 man roster, and they must pay him as though he's on their 53 man roster for at least 3 games
(not sure how that changes with playoffs if they're 1 and done, but if they get additional games, they don't have to keep him on their roster but they do have to pay him, is my understanding)

Yes, the Bills and Cine's agent would be called by the Eagles and told "hey, we want to sign Cine to our 53" at which point Cine gets to say "great!" or "oh, no, honey I'm good!".  If he says "I want on a 53 man roster" the Bills get to say "OK, we'll sign you" or "good luck Eagles, he's a great kid!  Good luck Cine we wish you the best!"

The team will provide a hotel for a week.  Then it's up to the player.  Good teams have player engagement staff who try to help out.

For PS and bottom of the roster guys, they either rent extended-stay hotels or furnished studios month by month; find a roommate; sometimes an established player will let them stay in a room, especially if they've played together in college or pros and have a connection.

There have been practice squad players who literally slept in their cars.

Some guys who have families, leave the family established in their hometown and look for roommates.  Others bring the girlfriend and the dog with them.

It's not too bad in Buffalo where there's a fair bit of housing stock and the prices are reasonable, but guys bouncing around in HCOL areas like the E or W coast have it rough.

Just read an article about that the other day.  Said while they are not obligated to, generally the agent of the player will notify the team the payer is currently on their PS and tell them, hey the Eagles are going to sign Cline, will you match (and match means need to sign to active 53)  They can say yes or no.   And player has the option to say thanks but no thanks like a guy like Hyde would likely do.  Didn't sound like the Eagles need to initially notify the Bills either, the word would more come from the agent.

Great move!  This kid will be one of those under the radar moves that goes a long way addressing the biggest need on the team.

We need that big body presence up the middle desperately…and he’s healthy which is another plus.

He’ll be huge for Baltimore.

He's very strong vs the run tho.

He’s a true 1TDT which no one else other than DaQuan Jones is.  He won’t make big plays but he can anchor and won’t get blown off the ball like the rest of the DT’s do.

Over the last 2 years he's my favorite depth rotational DT.  I don't know why he doesn't get more opportunities?  But as a Bruin I guess I'm bias.
