A bombastic cheerleader type coach who will get fans and players excited about being NY Jets again. Whether it will actually mean wins or not is another story. They have a lot of great defensive pieces on that roster, so I would predict Rex could get them into the 7 seed, especially because Miami is about to implode (IMO) and NE is a year or two away. When the owner's goal is to squeeze every penny out of his fanbase, it makes sense to hire a fraud and a con man as HC. Rex is the perfect coach, if your goal is to maximize quarterly returns. He's 100% a marketing & sales department hire. Woody would be cutting blank checks if he cared about winning. He doesn't. 2 1 Quote

Bruffalo Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago What about this guy though? The fact that Adam Gase isn't also in the running shows how bias the Jets organization is. 1 Quote

Far and away the funniest Jets moment in a long history of Jetsy things lol my phone blew up with links to that interview. Every few years I go back and watch it when I remember... you kinda expect it to be like a lot of internet things, kinda blown outta proportion in the moment...... BUT NO, IT IS EQUALLY AS INSANE EVERY SINGLE TIME LOL 1 Quote

First off, are you Rex's mom? Wife? Sister? Dude or dudette, your statement is absolute hyperbole. Bill Belichick took the Patriots to the Super Bowl 9 times between 2001 and 2018, winning 6. Belichick's Patriots teams won the AFCE 17 times during that period, including 11 times in a row between 2009 and 2019. Andy Reid has taken the Chiefs to 11 playoff seasons in his 12 seasons as HC in KC, including 4 with Alex Smith as his QB. With Mahomes at QB, Reid has coached the Chiefs to 4 Super Bowl appearances with 3 wins plus 2 more conference championship appearances. As for short-term coaching achievements, Sean McDermott's 2017 wild card playoff team which broke the Bills' 17 year playoff drought with Tyrod Taylor at QB certainly qualifies as a more significant coaching achievement. Certainly Sean Peyton taking the Broncos to the wild card in 2024 with rookie Bo Nix as QB is another more outstanding coaching achievement than Ryan's. I have no doubt that I could name a dozen outstanding one or two single season coaching achievements that easily surpass Ryan's since 2001 if I bothered to research them. Rex isn't even a blimp on the radar of "greatest coaching achievement of this century". Edited 13 hours ago by SoTier 1 1 1 1 Quote

They lost a number of close games. The issue going into the season was coaching and it got worse after they fired an already bad coach in Salah. Could they win next year and get into the playoffs with Rodgers? Yeah, maybe. But after that they have no future plans. They went all in on a pair of 8s and the results are not unexpected 1 1 Quote

They played a lot of close games, and if they hadn't fired Saleh IMO they would have been in the mix for the 7 seed. I know people around here hate the guy but I think Saleh is a pretty good coach. His defenses were always great. the idiot Jets owner fired him a handful of games into the season when they were like .500 and had plenty of games left. That ended any chance they had because now you've got first timers everywhere being elevated and way in over their heads. Coaching was a mess, not that you can really hold it against the guys left over who really should not have been in those positions. Rodgers also got better as the year went on, which isn't surprising given that Achilles injury. It's not as crazy as it sounds to say with the right coaching staff and a few moves (and Rodgers coming back) they could be a Wild Card team next year. Edited 12 hours ago by TheFunPolice Quote

IMO, Rodgers was the main reason the Jests failed to make the playoffs this year. Not only had his physical skills significantly diminished from his top years in GB, but he's an egotistical ass who wanted everything his way and who never took responsibility for his own failures. It was always somebody else's fault when things didn't work out. Quote
