In any case, the punter doesn't really matter much, right? lol, he's 34--younger than Miller. This guy's inside the 20 numbers are 28/34/38% over 3 seasons. His net this season is 36.5. Martin is better now than this guy has been. but yeah, Punter doesn't matter--if you're punting that much for him to make a difference then he's not your problem---so I'm not sure why anyone would go so hard to the mats over a Punter. Right?? lol... Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I suppose you never know. Sam could have told Beane he may be riding off into the sunset. But more than likely this is taking a look at a 25-year-old kid who had a really good year a few years ago and has struggled since. And while teams typically wait until the end of the season to sign futures guys, they likely had to act fast to grab him while they are still in the mix before some other team maybe scooped him up. There are so many kickers and punters who fail in their first spot and have tremendous success in their second. Brian Moorman, Cameron Dicker, Jack Fox and not to mention the UFL guys. 1 Quote
Cash Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Book your flights for SF now - 2025 Super Bowl here we come! Seriously though, Martin's had a really nice bounceback year this year, but he's getting pretty long in the tooth. Having Camarda in camp next year is a great idea. Quote

Once the "kid" (who is 17 but goes to college parties and claims she's 18 and brags about tossing guys' salad and her body count being in the teens) got him cut because of her lies, I said the Bills were right to move on from him and that he'd never be a Buffalo Bill again. You're conflating discussing the entirely predictable outcome of her silly charade and lawsuit with pining for him. Check the threads if you're unsure. And Bojo wasn't a decent punter when they cut him and wanted more money. The reason I was happy about them drafting Araiza is because he had talent, was drafted with a throwaway pick and would have cost them $1M/year for 4 years, i.e. he would have been cheap. You don't need an expensive punter. Edited 4 hours ago by Doc Quote
ColoradoBills Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago At a minimum, Bills needed a camp leg at Punter. At best, he can do the job better than Martin for less cap. Reserve/Futures can start to be signed after the regular season and Beane no doubt wanted him at camp. He signed him before another team. Well done. Quote

Martin is a sure goner and will save almost $2.2M on the cap. Quote

BillsFanForever19 Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago https://thepewterplank.com/jake-camarda-new-team-signing-afc-contender It seems like he got a Punter's case of the yips. Had some bad kicks and then got in his own head. The whole thing is odd. Coming into the year he was a bright spot on the team. One of the better Punter's in the league. Then he "crashed out", as the article put it, and was cut. Kind of a very quick fall from grace. The good news is he's young and there's many instances of Punters putting it back together in their second chance. Given his pedigree coming out of College and his performance in Year 1 and Year 2 - hopefully the start of this year was a blip and we get the guy he was expected to be in Camp this year, when he was taken in Round 4. Eventually we were proven right but not until some damage was done. We didn't think things would go as far as they did. That's wrong. No one's Drafting a Punter (regardless of whether they're a "God" or not) with an SA case hanging over their head. We didn't know. If we had known and lied about it to the public - Araiza would have been screaming from the rooftops that we knew and lied when we cut him and claimed we didn't. He never did and what you're implying has never been said by anyone. The reasons he fell below other Punters was: 1.) He didn't hold in College and there was no telling if he could. 2.) He very often overkicked his coverage. Which was a concern at the Pro level. 3.) He has an unquestionably strong leg. But nuance control like Coffin Corner kicks wasn't a strong point. 4.) Playing at San Diego State v. playing in the NFL is very different. Camarda, for example, was playing at Georgia. Which is as close to the NFL level as you can get. Things he got away with in SDSU he may not get away with at the NFL level. This idea that he was the greatest Punter prospect of all time is inaccurate. There were concerns with his game and how it would translate to the Pro level. Pat McAfee had Stout and Camarda above him as well in his pre-Draft breakdown of the position he played. I hated when Moorman was the face of our franchise (I can say that because one of my good friends was a college punter). I hated the Punt God saga. I think punter is the easiest, least pressure jobs in all of sports. And when we have an awesome qb, Idint care about the the punter (I thought his name was Chris Martin for awhile). Quote

Sounds like you're projecting some PTSD there.. I don't disagree with the things you're saying about Moorman and Araiza. But if we sign a Player that's an interesting prospect at any position, it's going to be discussed at some level. Quote
