I was clearly referring to fans who are completely content to watch them win a wild card every year and don't view winning a SB with a once-in-a-lifetime talent as being terribly necessary. Giants and Patriots fans have seen their teams win multiple SBs, by the way.

This 100%

I don't think ppl understand how much of an opportunity this is with Allen. We gotta get it done.

How many of those fans are there? Probably not a ton - certainly not on this board. How does one show discontent? To whom ? Fans want to see them win a Championship. Badly.

I’m so confident I’m not even nervous. I think we roll the Broncos. Upset coz I wanted Burrow. I guess we will get the play the 25 year old rookie Bo Nix and send him back to Alabama for his winter vacation in the humid climate.

Correct. What I described is NOT a "Debbie Downer".

But they still get labeled as that constantly. Anyone who shows any concern for an opponent or even an on field individual matchup, or calls out poor performance from a Bills player will inevitably have people calling them out as a DD and less of a fan. I've been called both a Homer and a Debbie Downer multiple times on this board.

There is no true Bills fan on this board, whether they fear or even expect a defeat, that doesn't cheer for the team on Game Day and want the team to win. And these kind of "holier than thou" posts (the OP, not yours) give me the icks.

I voice concerns all the time and I don't get attacked for it. Most people agree with me. Some people take the negativity over the top, though.

Please person of which I know not of… tell me what it is I was trying to recover from ?

Trying to recover from a football take based upon my own personal experience lol.. I must have intended something sinister lol.

You were confronted on your post, albeit low key, felt embarrassed because you were rightly told what you were doing was ridiculous.  Then to try and save face you put up a post minimizing what you did.  Typical human behavior.  We get it.

We are blessed with the Bills and the run of the McBeane administration. And yet, with the arrival of the playoffs, a particular class of Bills fan has been stirred into action...but not due to excitement. They are the naysayers who find fault, often irrationally so, with the team. It's actually a defense mechanism that, in a way, prepares such naysayers to emotionally handle the eventual playoff loss they're certain of.

I feel for these folks...we all love our Bills. The fanbase even has a name: "Bills Mafia".  But the naysayers predate Bills Mafia and need their own special classification:

DEBBIE Downers. Many are familiar with this this term, but few know that is an acronym: Drought Encrusted Buffalo Bills Idiocy Enthusiasts

These are Bills fans....so be courteous to them. Just don't get too close and get infected with their negativity. #GoBills

I think the original point is that if the Bills go 13-4, sweep the division, beat KC and Detroit, but don't win the Super Bowl (maybe winning 1 - 3 playoff games, but not going all the way), is the season wasted?  Or was it a great season with a disappointing finish?  I agree that any season with a team that's a legitimate contender that does not end in a Super Bowl victory is disappointing, but I don't think it's wasted.  I have enjoyed a lot of great Bills football over the last 18 weeks and expect to enjoy it for a few more weeks.  If the only satisfaction is the Bills winning the Super Bowl, why even watch a single game in the regular season?  Or the playoff rounds prior to the Super Bowl?

So yes, I'll be heartbroken and disappointed if the Bills don't win the Super Bowl, but I won't consider it a wasted season.  I live outside of Buffalo and everyone I know knows that I'm a Bills fan (and if I'm wearing Bills gear, people I don't know also know I'm a Bills fan).  I get compliments all the time about what a great team and fanbase we have.  I enjoyed watching the Bills win 13 out of 17 games and have slept well on a lot of Sunday and Monday nights this fall.  I've watched games with friends and family who also love the Bills.  Those things will have taken place whether the Bills go all the way or not.

At what point does not winning the Super Bowl become unacceptable?

The Bills have a future first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback in his prime.  Possibly the best player in the entire NFL, and a Top 2 QB in the minds of almost everyone who watches the sport.  Going strictly by the numbers, his postseason stats are also among the best in all of NFL history.  We're talking comparable to guys like Brady and Montana.  When you think about it, the fact that we haven't even made a Super Bowl or survived past the Divisional Round in the last 3 years is one of the biggest failures in all of sports.

Regardless of how much I enjoy watching Josh Allen... yes, the Bills are absolutely wasting season after season if they can't win the Super Bowl.  Even a below average performance by our defense would probably be enough.  But in the playoffs, we have continually suffered with some of the worst performances anyone has ever seen on that side of the ball.  Unable to sniff the opposing quarterback.  Unable to force turnovers.  Unable to force punts.

I am an eternal optimist. But us Bills Mafia have undergone collective PSTD.  We have been conditioned to losing due to too many people on field, fumbling at the one, Hail Marys, awful ref calls, in 13 seconds, Boy I Love Losing Super Bowls, 044 phone prefix for Buffalo, 0 for the 70s against Miami, 17 years no playoffs, Norwood missing, Just give It To Them game, etc.  We all know and feel the pain.  It has forged our Bills fandom, and helped make Bills Mafia the most famous fanbase in the sports World, and I feel the best fans in the world!  Still we carry that trauma with us.  So I understand why many Bills Mafia is pessimistic.  When the Bills win the SuperBowl, it will be the sweetest tasting victory this Sports planet has seen.  When this goes down, not even a Debbie Downer can deny - the Bills are Champion of the World.

Go Bills!

Call me a "debbie downer"....but put me down for expecting a win, but would not be shocked by a loss. A lot in Denver's favor here. Their line play on both sides, their secondary, the fact they are very well-coached. Dont take them lightly.

I haven't read the whole thread. In spirit I understand what OP is saying. Basically if the worse happens let everyone suffer in the way they must.

I will cop to being chippy when posters say "I'm done. never a fan again sayonara. I call that baloney and it irritates me greatly.

But I will try to stifle my indignation so as to not make someone feel worse.

as if that would be possible. I'm joking. kinda
