Playoffs are Here! Be Courteous to and Cautious of DEBBIE Downers

You're right about the defense mechanism. This game scares the hell out of me!!! If we get through this game, I feel we can beat the Ravens.

What's the opposite of a Debbie Downer? Because personally I find the type of fan, who just ignores every other teams strengths, assumes we're always going to be the best team on the field, judges/name calls anyone else who doesn't blindly swing pom-pom's existing solely in their own Bills bubble, and thinks they're a better fan because of it even more annoying.

 

ANY analytical thinking and valid concerns over individual or team matchups gets you labeled a "Debbie Downer". You can respect your opponent, voice concerns, still have hope, and cheer for your team just as hard as any other Bills fan - without being an "idiocy enthusiast" or a lesser fan than those who just drink the spiked kool-aid 100% of the time.

Just curious why this game scares the hell out of you yet you are more confident they can beat the Ravens who thrashed the Bills in regular season play?

What you are describing here is not a Debbie Downer. Fans who logically talk about the team and opponents and voice legitimate concerns, while having hope and cheering for the team are not the target of this post. There are only a handful of the true Debbie Downers and they are the ones who continually pick the Bills to lose games, miss the playoffs, have an irrational burning hatred for McDermott, and spew negativity everywhere they go. They also disappear when the Bills are doing well, and reappear when the Bills lose a game.

Correct. What I described is NOT a "Debbie Downer".

 

But they still get labeled as that constantly. Anyone who shows any concern for an opponent or even an on field individual matchup, or calls out poor performance from a Bills player will inevitably have people calling them out as a DD and less of a fan. I've been called both a Homer and a Debbie Downer multiple times on this board.

 

There is no true Bills fan on this board, whether they fear or even expect a defeat, that doesn't cheer for the team on Game Day and want the team to win. And these kind of "holier than thou" posts (the OP, not yours) give me the icks.

Every legitimate comment or thread on a perceived issue w the Bills I've ever seen here gets flooded by people naysaying the naysayers. It's entirely predictable

im very optimistic (out some good money on that). But as a Bills fan, can you blame anyone for not being nervous? All that negativity comes from love and not waiting to be hurt. Agree it’s annoying but don’t seek it out.

The Broncos have very little to lose. They are playing loose. The way they handled the Chief's backups was scary. The Ravens beat us badly early on. We want revenge in this game. Plus, Lamar has been known to choke in the playoffs.

Yeah, wouldn't want anyone to be happy watching good football. Unhappiness makes much more sense and stands as a clearly superior way to live your life.

I still expect them to lose to KC in conference final.

But that's fine. While everyone wonders if it's over. Next year will definitely be the year.

Reid will be gone and or McDermott  will, after this season. And the torch is passed
