And I am extremely confident Cooper will be out there Sunday.  Cooper seems to take the team and the situation seriously, he is a professional.  These are the playoffs.   He will be out there.

100% this.

And he's on our side guys.  Let's support our players instead of speculating and bashing, etc.

This is exactly how my wife reacted on our Valentine's Day dinner last year when I kept calling her by her sister's name

You don't come back for the fans, you come back because it is your job.  He does not deserve time, that's not how it works.  He didn't accumulate sick days or PTO.  It really doesn't matter what the reason for the personal time was. what matters is he is out there Sunday.

Sorry but no.  Depends on the situation.  Could have a child or wife seriously ill as examples.

Cooper and Diggs couldn't be more different.

I'll never forget Diggs huddled up with teammates trying to get them fired up and ready to go just minutes after Damar Hamlin collapsed in front of them.  He was the only one on the entire team that seemed to be able to set it aside immediately.  His teammates were just standing there, probably not even listening to him.

And, for the record, I am definitely not implying this was a "good" quality in Diggs.

On the contrary, I think Diggs' intensity was exhausting and eventually toxic.

That said, there has also been some epic performances over the years from players that lost a family member, played the next day and just balled out.  But Cooper comes off in interviews as a sensitive dude imo, so I am intrigued to see how this will impact him, assuming he suits up for the playoffs.

Are you saying what Diggs did was bad? He was trying to keep the team focused just in case they had to keep playing. That's the only reason he did that. He was also the first one at the hospital that night to see Damar after it happened

That was my take as well, and it’s none of our business if he had a death in the family, or some other family tragedy.  If McD states he’ll most likely play, he’ll play.  As a reminder, he probably wants an extension so this is last chance in the playoffs to prove his worth.  He was cheap this year, so now we’ll see if he’s worth it.  I like Cooper, but he has been up and down.  I’m not a hot take quick overreaction guy, but really want to see some great performances in the playoffs.  He helps us get to the SB, and I’m all in on paying him.

I will say this.  The Bills are a bunch of really good guys.  But in the playoffs, it's kill or be killed.  Like you said, we need some special performances like you see from the Super Bowl winners along their journeys.  The Bills need to come out this year with attitude, not just that they're going to win, but to bully other large human beings on the field... especially at home.  Cooper has to be a part of that.

The "narrative" you speak of was developed whilst Coop played with s****y teams. Bending facts into your "narrative" is getting into the "DEBBIE Downer" realm. (DEBBIE is an acronym for Drought Encrusted Buffalo Bills Idiocy Enthusiasts).

His sample size disagrees with you.

This. Well said.

Gotta say that I hope Amari and his family are ok. But we need him and this is what he’s paid to do. You need to compartmentalize and put yourself in a frame of mind to help the team.

Sometimes I read stuff like this and I'm just flabbergasted. If there is something that is tragic in Amari's life, I want him to focus on it. Football is a game. When I've had tragedies in my life, no amount of "compartmentalizing it" would have put me in a place of peak performance.  He's human.

This is a great post. If we can't beat the rookie QB Denver broncos at home in the playoffs because we are without a starting wr, we got way bigger problems. Way bigger, whether ppl want to admit it or not

Curtis Samuel and Hollins can fill in fine for a game.

I understand your point. However sometimes people do better when they get back to work and are around friends and colleagues.  It gives them a respite at least for a gew hours from whatever family issue they may be dealing with. It's why guys can play a football game a few days after a death in the family, ie Brett Favre

Depends on the person as you allude to as well as the nature of the incident

Thats you, but everyone is different. Look at Favre. We’re human yes, but not all the same.

Sometimes people do, sure. But sometimes people don't. You have to let the individual deal with it their way. Everyone is different.

Not a model for humanity, but a great example of a pro ballplayer who played and played extremely well in a time of personal grief. Anyone who holds any of these guys up as some model of humanity is very misguided.
