Anything new?

I just dont think we hear anything until Weds... I hope everything is ok with his family and him and I really hope he plays in the game with a clear head. We could use him to have a big game.

My disclaimer is this is a job and if an employee has a family tragedy they should be allowed time to get their head straight.  Unfortunately this happened at one of the worst times.

However, the take that it's just a kids game is one of the lamest things I've read on these forums.   Yes, young children can play this sport, but they are are not getting paid generational wealth amounts of money, by a league worth many billions of dollars, funded by thousands (just for one games ticket sales) of fans making way less money.

The NFL is a business.

On McDermott's media call yesterday he was asked about Cooper.  Was really not trying to convey anything out of respect for Amari's privacy.  But when pressed McD did say he expected Cooper would be back and play.

Not to be a jerk, but if any of us had a death in the family ( and may all of you be blessed to not have that happen this year, we get 3 days.

As another poster stated, it's not a normal job he has.  He got paid millions to do this job and we are now at the most vital part of the season.  I hope he makes it back.

That was my take as well, and it’s none of our business if he had a death in the family, or some other family tragedy.  If McD states he’ll most likely play, he’ll play.  As a reminder, he probably wants an extension so this is last chance in the playoffs to prove his worth.  He was cheap this year, so now we’ll see if he’s worth it.  I like Cooper, but he has been up and down.  I’m not a hot take quick overreaction guy, but really want to see some great performances in the playoffs.  He helps us get to the SB, and I’m all in on paying him.

We don’t know what’s going on and certain things that can happen to a person’s family get way more than 3 days off.

didn’t cast anything. I said if he misses the game, it would fit the narrative.

The "narrative" you speak of was developed whilst Coop played with s****y teams. Bending facts into your "narrative" is getting into the "DEBBIE Downer" realm. (DEBBIE is an acronym for Drought Encrusted Buffalo Bills Idiocy Enthusiasts).

FYI, here is Rome talking about the incident:

TLDR: Rome says it was not staged at all and he was young and dumb and it was all his fault. Said they have never spoken since.

Cooper and Diggs couldn't be more different.

I'll never forget Diggs huddled up with teammates trying to get them fired up and ready to go just minutes after Damar Hamlin collapsed in front of them.  He was the only one on the entire team that seemed to be able to set it aside immediately.  His teammates were just standing there, probably not even listening to him.

And, for the record, I am definitely not implying this was a "good" quality in Diggs.

On the contrary, I think Diggs' intensity was exhausting and eventually toxic.

That said, there has also been some epic performances over the years from players that lost a family member, played the next day and just balled out.  But Cooper comes off in interviews as a sensitive dude imo, so I am intrigued to see how this will impact him, assuming he suits up for the playoffs.

But he'll no good to the Bills if his head isn't in the right space. Timing sucks but, if he has suffered a family tragedy, he deserves to be given the time and space to grieve and also deal with all of the legal issues which will subsequently arise. Not come back and play just because fans want a ring.

There is something to be said for only having so much in the tank in terms of emotional energy and "fired upness".  Perhaps that is why after a long season and some good wildcard performances, his performances drastically decreased in the divisional round and AFCCG

He strikes me as a deeply thoughtful man. When he, in an understated way, said how joyful it felt after joining the Bills, it was clear this guy has a deep hot fire for this game. He will figure strongly when the Bills hoist the Vince.

You don't come back for the fans, you come back because it is your job.  He does not deserve time, that's not how it works.  He didn't accumulate sick days or PTO.  It really doesn't matter what the reason for the personal time was. what matters is he is out there Sunday.

And I am extremely confident Cooper will be out there Sunday.  Cooper seems to take the team and the situation seriously, he is a professional.  These are the playoffs.   He will be out there.

There have been changes. Mental health, rightly, is seen more importantly than it used to be. The old approach used to be "It's your job, get on with it". The old approach probably wouldn't have seen him given any time away from the facility, or the very least it would have been dictated by the Bills - you have two days then you must be back. Now it's person first, job second in situations like this.
