Sharky7337 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Poll - with diggs and hill most notably recently deciding to want to leave mid extension, do we see teams now looking to sign short contracts and protect themselves more? Edited January 6 by Sharky7337 Quote
RyanC883 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 perhaps for WR. Reminds me of that hilarious commercial for I forget what brand where the diva WR is drafted, celebrates, and falls down the stairs. 1 1 Quote
HOUSE Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Tyreek is great but not worth the headache plus he is 31 in March. 3 6 Quote
Augie Posted January 6 Posted January 6 You know they have to agree to it, right? That’s why they have agents and stuff. You have to compete in the market, not in a vacuum. 1 1 Quote

947 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 There will always be stupid teams who sign WRs to crazy deals. A few years ago, nobody would've believed a team would ever give a QB a fully guaranteed contract, and here we are... Quote

You have to compete in the market, not in a vacuum. This is the answer. The market speaks loudly. WR contracts are getting bigger as a total but also as a % of the cap. Teams are moving MORE towards a commitment to the top WRs. I know some people desire “the good ol’ days when players did what they are told.” That’s not sports in 2025. The power lies with the players. 3 minutes ago, DrDawkinstein said: Stefon's nerdy alter ego Quote
4th&long Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I'm thinking wr will be treated like rb's. Drafted every year cut when the rookie contract is up. 2 Quote

The data suggests that WR contracts and % of cap are higher now than at any point in history. The data says the exact opposite of what you posted. That is all true even before Chase signs his new deal that will certainly be historic. 1 Quote

I see him as an OBJ now. what's that got to do with the OP's topic? Players get injured. Not something for factoring into contract length--unless the player has a significant history and is near end of career.. Quote

T.E. Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Really interesting how some of these guys have no loyalty whatsoever to organizations who give them insane money and do everything in their power to make them successful on the field. Miami gave Hill $105 MM guaranteed, and he feels no shame at all about causing problems during an off year. 2 2 1 Quote
