For me, ibuprofen is much more effective. And if you just use it on an emergency basis, you might consider going beyond the recommended OTC dose if necessary for a day or two. If you have any CKD, D0 NOT take anything except acetaminophen (tylenol). I had worsening CKD for 10 years before needing a transplant and my nephrologist told me that from the beginning. The transplant center reinforced that before they released me. Edited yesterday at 03:02 PM by Wacka Glitch in TBD's matrix 1 Quote
LeviF Posted yesterday at 02:58 PM Posted yesterday at 02:58 PM Hyper dose vitamin C. Double dose vitamin D (your body can't synthesize it this time of year where you live). Hot bone broth. No sugar or anything else inflammatory. Eat. I know there's not as much joy in it but you need to eat to support recovery. Rest - body and mind (if you can take a day off work do it). Ultimately none of these things are going to cure you but if your immune system needs support it will help you feel better faster. 1 Quote

Sweats Posted yesterday at 03:28 PM Author Posted yesterday at 03:28 PM The one main issue i have is that when i get a cold, i just have to let the sickness run its course through "home" remedies. I have major reactions to cold medications and in fact, my son has the exact same thing.......any pharmacy cold medications leaves us running up the walls and super hyper for weeks. It doesn't matter what it is, it just kicks the **** out of us because we won't sleep for days and that doesn't help when you're sick. UGH Quote

UGH I do the usual campbells chicken soup with crackers, hot tea with honey (soothing like chamomile) and I swear by the neti pot nasal liquid rinse. It feels weird but I have found it helps with my recovery being faster. emergen-C supplement, that's not really a home remedy but I take it to get better best to you 1 Quote

If it were up to me, i'd just stay in bed for the next 2 weeks, but that's not an option. I need your "home" cold remedies to at least get me over the hump. What have you got........ Sudafed (have to get from the pharmacist).. it works almost too good. Gargle salt water. If congested- sinus rinse (Neto-pot) will help. Soup, tea, morning pastina with sugar, butter and milk Quote
