I agree that he was an outstanding college QB.

And he was fun to watch in the NFL, but he could just never operate within the framework of pro systems.

fwiw, my favorite Kordell memory:

Early in his first year as a starter I was watching a game with a Steeler fan when Kordell got in trouble deep in his own end and was running around like a crazy person trying to avoid a sack. In the middle of this chaos in the backfield my buddy says "Touchdown!" and I started cracking up and nearly spit out my beer. Sure enough Kordell finally somehow gets loose and ends up taking off for what was about a 170 yrd long TD run.

I had some hope that the Steelers could upset them but the last 2 weeks, the Steelers have looked brutal. That end of the game vs the Bengals was an exercise in bad decision making and coaching.

Yeah, a Steelers upset over the Ravens is popular on this board, but it isn’t happening. Divisional games are tough, but the Steelers offense doesn’t even function right now.

Still amazed he played the starters at all let alone as long as he did. They had that division won after beating the Steelers. Such a silly choice by John.

Ravens without that dude are a whole different ball game. I think he’s a great player, not elite, but definitely a game changer for that offense if the opposing defense is loading up to stop the run.

The rest of the guys have been hit or miss with the exception of Andrews.

This could bode well for Pittsburgh.

Yup. Without Flowers, just take out Lamar/Henry running and Andrews passing.  Make Lamar beat you throwing to Bateman and whatever other bum they got . Even with Flowers - take away the run, make Lamar beat you with his arm.

No matter what , I feel Pit has a decent shot of winning.  Tomlin will have them ready for war, divisional opponent is always tough for the 3rd time. Coaching will be the X factor

I'm really hoping the Steelers can gameplan to make it work to their advantage, but i'm not holding my breath.........it's the Steelers, after all

Its possible. Lamar has trouble against the Steelers and loses more often than not. They lost the first one and the last one they played the Steelers had some missing players and Watt was playing injured. This will ride on Wilson.

I disagree; the Steelers won in spite of him, not because of him.

Most years he threw more picks than TD's; he had a career TD:Int that was actually below 1:1

He rarely completed 60% of his passes over a season and finished his career with a 55% completion rate.

He only once managed to throw 20 TDs in a season and his second highest total was a paltry 14 TD passes.

And all this despite a defense that repeatedly gave  him the ball in great position while playing behind outstanding OLines and throwing to guys like Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress, Charles Johnson, etc.

Even an average NFL QB would have won multiple SB's with that team during that stretch.

He was a great athlete but an atrocious QB.

Its incredible how long Pitts defense has been very good. They havent been the best but they been at the top forever.

Gotta pay attention to Likely now as well. He has become a good target for Lamar.

The Steelers have already beat the Ravens this year without scoring a TD
