GASabresIUFan Posted yesterday at 05:49 PM Posted yesterday at 05:49 PM Beane and McD (w TP) need to sit down with Brady, give him the $ he wants to re-sign a 2-3 year extension and maintain stability for Josh. The Bills Super Bowl window is now with all the young talent on rookie deals. The last thing Josh needs is a 4th OC. Brady is very young and this will also afford him the perfect time to wait until he finds the ideal HC opportunity with a real QB in place for him to coach. How much more will his HC contract be if he wins a Super Bowl? Quote

Both JD and Saleh wanted Carr but were overruled by him. How can you keep him out when he is the owner and can do whatever he wants. You make it a condition of hire and write it into the contract that the GM and/or HC have final say over roster composition and the cap. I'm not saying it will happen... but IMO that's what it is going to take for the Jets to have success with whomever they decide to run the football operations of the franchise. 1 Quote

If you say no coaches can interview until after the Superbowl that leaves 4 and a half weeks until free agency opens. It just isn't time to run a process, hire a coach, hire a staff, self scout your team, scout the upcoming FAs and set your free agency priorities. It is proven already that getting to the Superbowl makes it harder to get hired as a HC because even when they are chosen in advance and start work the Monday after the Superbowl and have made a start on a staff ahead of time it is STILL difficult to get everything else in place to hit the ground running by FA. I know people say well push FA back. To do that you have to then move the draft back too and they did do that one year and have it in May and the teams moaned that didn't give them enough time to get players in and settled ahead of the June down time. And that time in June has to be protected. It is the only time in the entire year coaches and personnel people get off. Honestly I get what youre saying... but sucks to be that team with a constantly firing assembly line of new coaches. So the Jets and the Browns of the world get to disrupt playoff teams bi-anually at best..... meanwhile we're trying to win a SB. OHHHHHH ANDDDDD now we're the ones who have to wait to hire a coach off the scrap heaps, because all the bad teams looted anyone worthwhile, and we can't interview for a POTENTIAL vacancy? Sorry Jets/Browns/Jags. You get what you get, maybe what GunnerBill mentioned will discourage them from hiring coaches that theyre unwilling to commit to more than 12-24mos 🤷♂️. Might prevent the 'treading water' David Culley & Lovie Smith type hires Quote
947 Posted yesterday at 05:54 PM Posted yesterday at 05:54 PM Anybody taking the Saints HC job is almost guaranteed to be looking for another job in 2 years. They have no QB, no means to draft one this year, and are in utter Cap Hell. You can't turn a team like that around without breaking down & fixing the Cap, and that'll take 2 seasons. If Brady takes that job, chances are he's looking for another OC position in 2 years. I think he's smarter than that. Stay as Bills' OC another year, he'll be next year's Ben Johnson and can pick the best situation. I do think the Jags situation could maybe be enough to sway Brady, but not the Saints or Raiders. 1 Quote

Nothing against the man, but I dont think its much of a groundbreaking hire. It will be same ol same ol in New Jersey. And will be that way as long as you have a Woody making decisions. I still worry about Brady to New Orleans. Seems like a well connected no-brainer. Hoping the Saints dont want to wait 3 weeks to make a hire. McCarthy would be a good land for them. I think New Orleans maybe goes retread, and I think that is why McCarthy is a good fit. Try one last run with Derek Carr. McCarthy is an even more well-connected guy as he was the NO offensive coordinator from 2000-2004. He and Mickey Loomis came into NO at the same time, not too many people mention that connection since it was so far back. If they want to tear it all down and start over, Brady makes more sense IMO. 2 Quote

I believe Brady being the Saints hire went up in smoke when Dallas didn't retain McCarthy. From everything I see, their preferences are Glenn, McCarthy and maybe then Brady. And if I'm Brady I look at the remaining jobs against what MAY be open next season for a HC position. Teams that right now I would think are another bad season away from aHC search include the Dolphins, Colts, and Bengals. If I'm Joe, I may be more tempted to see if the Cincinnati job opens next year. 1 Quote

I agree that Glenn doesn't seem like that kind of person. Ironically I would have said Saleh might be a few years ago, but we know how that turned out. Just now, Gregg said: Woody is known to get involved. He was the one who wanted Rodgers. Both JD and Saleh wanted Carr but were overruled by him. Jets need to move on to post nut clarity before they'll ever be good. Funny enough, the best thing to ever happen to the Jets was Trump assigning Woody to the UK. It allowed Chris Johnson to take over, and he just let the football guys do their thing. Quote
JP51 Posted yesterday at 07:19 PM Posted yesterday at 07:19 PM I do think Brady is like Daboll was before the Giants hire... he is gonna be a hot candidate but a bridesmaid.. I think if he replicates his success someone is gonna nab him... I like the idea of a contact extension for solid bucks in a hope to make retain him for a bit... but in the end... top teams gonna have their coaches poached... every year... (Except the 90s Bills save Marchibroda but we wont go there) Quote
