The thing not a lot of people recall is that before his stint with that Panthers, Joe Brady had been interviewing for HC jobs since way back in 2021.

In addition, he interviewed for the Falcons job last year. He is extremely well though of in league circles and has vastly rebuilt his image since his time under Matt Rhule with the Panthers. Saints and Jets this cycle have already requested interviews and I expect one or two more to come down before hiring starts. In a rather boring HC cycle, he has the youth, energy and offense mind owners can get dazzled by. And it only takes one offer

If I'm betting I believe he will get an offer this cycle.

It was after his first year with the Panthers he interviewed. He was fired as OC within about 8 games.

I don't think he will get the Jets job (and not sure he'd take it). He is in play for the Saints though. It will be him or Aaron Glenn. Loomis doesn't like people he doesn't know.

The way I see this cycle: Vrabel and Johnson (if he wants one) will get jobs. McCarthy either stays with Dallas or gets hired elsewhere. That means there is a max of 3 other openings for which Joe Brady, Aaron Glenn, Brian Flores, Vance Joseph and Anthony Weaver appear to be the early hot names.

Worst job and franchise. Only someone like Rex would be so desperate

I agree to where I would not want that job either.  And yeah, I can see how Rex would gravitate to it given he previously had success there and his name isn't excatly hot in HC searches to say the least.  At the same time though, if he is going to get back in being a HC, the fit there isn't crazy given the strength of the team should be the defense.  And he wouldn't be intimidated by the lack of clarity at QB given he took over Jets and Bills with weak QB situations in his prior stops as a HC.

But if he does get the job, I do hope Rodgers comes back one more season because I do not think him and Rex will mesh well lol.  None the less, Rex being back with the Jets with or without Rodgers coming back would be funny to watch

Apparently the Bears have looked into McCarthy's availability.  If the Bears make some trade to get McCarthy it will be hilarious

Fair, but lets be honest leaving an OC job with JA to go to a tire fire without a QB that needs to get one in a draft that is really mediocre at QB... he has got to see that he is cannon fodder for 2 years... Bills buck up and pay him... I just cant see why he would do that... but hey, you never know...

Agree, pay what it takes to keep him.  It's not like there is a salary cap when it comes to coaches.

Has anyone heard if any actual interviews have taken place with Joe Brady this week?

I recall reading that he had 2 interviews,  but I think they were last week

Posted (edited)

I know they were requested last week, but I think by league rules they could only be held this week.  I've heard about other interviews happening this week but not Brady, was just wondering if he may have rejected some that weren't considered good places to land (e.g. the Jets.)

He's doing an online interview with the Saints today

It was said last week that the interviews would take place by Videoconference on Tuesday (14 Jan).  So they have taken place.

Seriously?  I thought that the interviews were only allowed to take place on Tuesday, where did you hear this?

But again that's not confirmation that he's actually accepted any interviews.  All I have found / read was that they were requested (aside from the New Orleans interview which does seem to be confirmed.

IDK, maybe Brady turned the Jets down?

Apparently I was wrong and the interview could take place today.

Learn something every day!  Thanks!

You are right that for teams in contention, this week is the week.

The Jets have a list of completed interviews on their own website. Brady has not been interviewed as of yet. I believe technically tomorrow is still a possibility. After tomorrow the Jets cannot interview him until the Bills are eliminated. That could be Monday. But it could be the week after the Superbowl. I think it is likely he is out of the running for that job.

Looks to me like for Brady it is New Orleans or nowhere this round. Though Jacksonville remains a dark horse.

McCarthy won the SB with the Packers and had 3 straight 12 win seasons with the Cowboys. Even this year he had the Cowboys playing hard with Cooper Rush. Maybe he won't take you to the next level, but he could elevate a team like the Bears to the playoffs.

I agree.  Good chance Brady doesn’t get an offer…and the Saints job is horrible, even worse than the Jets…no talent, no QB, and deep salary cap jail…
