I realize he was being thrown to by Trubisky and White instead of Allen, but against a bad secondary he got zero separation yesterday. Two catches on ten targets.

He's shown some real flashes this season, but I'd say I'm more worried about him and his prospects now than I have been before this game.

I think he will be fine. The idea of throwing up 50/50 balls to him all the time is just dumb and if we have to rely on that to win a Super Bowl, it isn't happening. The offense yesterday was as creamy white vanilla as you can possibly get. He was terrible, but I am not worried bout it.

He's never going to be a separation guy. That was never the expectation. At least I hope it wasn't.

Hoping he can develop into a bully type receiver that makes those contested catches more often than not. There's value in that.

He’s hit or miss for me this season. Makes some awesome plays… and then drops easy ones that hit both hands. There has not been one game where he was really taken over, or shown that he can/will be a #1 WR in this league. I like the kid, and he’s a rookie, so I’m understanding and hopeful.
I just don’t see a very high ceiling unfortunately.. yet.

I will forever be baffled when people act surprised with Keon's performance.  This is who the player was before he was drafted.  This is the guy he is.

There were a lot better option available and Beane fumbled it.  It was a bad pick at the time, and he hasn't shown much more than what everyone knew you were getting prior to the season.

He will never be a number one WR and I think it will be a stretch for him to be a number two.  He will be a situational spark plug.

WR is STILL a massive hole yet again.

Yup- Zero separation was why most Bills fans didn’t want him…

I can appreciate some of the stuff he’s done this year…But he was literally the ONE WR I didn’t want the Bills to draft- and all because of what fans are saying about him now…

He did indeed look bad yesterday.  Maybe he was just disinterested and not putting in any effort but still not a good look to have on your film reel.   I sincerely hope McBeane have a plan to keep filling out the WR room because I know defense is gonna be soaking up majority of our draft picks this offseason.

We need to be better at drafting in general.  You can only stay on top so long when you're picking at the bottom of the 1st every year.    Beane's last few drafts have been less than stellar.

How many big plodding wideouts are successful in the NFL anymore?   I don't think he is a guy you can stick outside and expect tons of production from.   If you go back and look at Gabe Davis' from his rookie and 2nd year I think you'll see a very comparable player.   Not especially fast, doesn't catch the ball incredibly well but can give you some production as a big slot and on go routes.

Maybe in time he will be something special, but I think the more likely outcome is a Michael Wilson/Gabe Davis type.

It was a preseason game. Staying healthy was the main goal. The second main goal was letting NE win.

He shouldnt have even been out there.

Literally nothing can be determined from yesterday's performance.

If JA17 wasn't Superman, none of these guys would be where they are right now. Josh knows when to throw the ball, where to throw the ball, and he does so in a manner which allows his guys to make plays. There is a reason Mitch and Mike White are where they are at this point in their careers. Keon's season as a whole has been a success in my opinion, and I was one of his biggest detractors going back to before the draft. One meaningless game with a bunch of backups and 3rd stringers around, a game we obviously didn't care to win, is not a reason to sound an alarm.

To think that the chargers got McConkey one pick after Coleman is very infuriating.

This.

He is frustratingly inconsistent, which is common for rookies.

But he has been more bad than good since he came back from injury. Many bad drops and not adjusting properly.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind sitting him in the playoffs. Our offense was rolling without him and we can’t afford to have his miscues in tight games.

He’ll rock next year.

Question is, if Allen was playing would he even have thrown the ball to him? Probably not. His day probably looked worse because backup qbs were throwing to him while he was blanketed. I think Coleman is good but he needs the full compliment of receivers out there to help draw coverage. He's a rookie. He will improve.

Yeah it's amazing how quickly the board is to turn on someone, really. It was a preseason game, like you said. Drawing any conclusions on starters yesterday is bad.

I watched Rapp get beat... does he need his own thread?
