agreed on miller. kirwan is great. i enjoy ross tucker most times.

any of the players sessions or those times where the players get the shows to interview each other is awful.

Kirwan and Miller give waaaaaay too much leeway to callers, also -- let them go on and on.  They forget it's a show people are actually listening to.  Whenever they take calls I turn it back to music.

The absolute most pathetic thing in my head is the regular callers who have an identity or persona. It's beta, as the kids say.

The problem with most of these callers is they are low IQ mouthbreathers that don't even make sense most of the time. It hurts my brain to try and think how what they say makes any logical sense to them. Don't get me wrong, there are some goods ones, but by and in large the point remains.

I have become quite underwhelmed with the Cover 1 coverage the last few years. But now they are chasing clicks and comment on things outside of their wheel house and produce commentary for the sake of clicks. They can be, and often are, wrong about stuff these days.

Their tweets and videos have been treated as gospel the last few years even though their content has fallen off a cliff in quality. Now it appears that the C1 guys themselves think they are infallible. That was a totally reasonable exchange. No need need to get all offended because somebody disagreed with you.

Not when you are listening to the Smack Off on the Rome show...that's freaking hilarious...and best of all Houston GM Nick Caserio is a regular listener on the show and caller and at times will randomly call up when another "Clone" brings him up on the show in their calls to set the record straight...

So much for Execs not listening to Sports Talk Radio or listening to what the media is saying...

I listen to Kirwan and Miller daily, I pick up my daughter from school and it’s an hour drive both ways and that is when their show is on.    I think they are the best in the biz, one is a players perspective and the other from management.

Allowing their listeners to talk a lot is their thing, they like to think of themselves that they are of the people and having irrational fans call in is part of their show and honestly I think it adds to their popularity.

They are Sirius’s football channels top show.

Flip side: The bend but don't break defense, who creates opportunistic turnovers, forces an offense to go and be really good and execute for 10+ plays every drive...knowing your offense is going to go get a touchdown with their possession. You are betting that your defense can get enough red zone stops and create a turnover or two to give extra possessions your top tiered offense.

Sure, you could go about it in an over aggressively manner, but that only takes one big play from the offense to match your offense. Like it or not, the defensive philosophy is to force the offenses to continuously execute for 60 minutes.

I would love to see us be more aggressive on 2nd and 3rd and long for sure though, instead of allowing teams to get into 3rd and shorts/manageable or convert against soft 3rd down looks. That is my one hope to see (and we have seen more aggressive calls and man coverage the last 5/6 weeks of the season) in the playoffs.

I am not defending our defense or McD. But I tend to agree a bit here.

We aren't exactly built like Indy with Dwight Freeney. But the defense is built to force offenses to try and keep up with our offense.

On the flip side, we've had huge issues (LAR, BAL) when our offense can't get going.

McD has done OK vs. Lamar holding him to 24, 3, 20, and 35 (woof) points. But on the flip side Harbaugh has done well against Allen holding him to 17, 17, 23, and 10. Looking at those numbers it is almost surprising to see that they are 2-2 head to head.

I wish people would stop throwing out guys like Aaron Quinn and Joe Marino and all that. They severely lack ball knowledge.

Not a Quinn fan, but Marino knows ball

I think honestly the issue is we simply don't have any stars on that side of the ball that can take over a game if needed in the way it sometimes is in the playoffs.  A guy that is going to make a key play in the big moment consistently.  Like Chris Jones in KC.

Even going back to the Super Bowl era Bills teams...yes the offense was great, but look at the defensive performance in the AFC Championship games:

Raiders 51-3

Broncos 10-7

Dolphins 29-3

Chiefs 30-13

The D allowed a total of 26 points in all 4 games and held the opposing team to 7 points or less in 3 of them.  Why? Because they had people who could take over games in big moments like Bruce Smith, Cornelius Bennett and Darryl Talley.

Bills better find some people that raise their game in the playoffs on D the way Allen raises his game or they are going to be spinning their wheels for a long time.

Great post, and it's been a problem for years. Our closest guy who fits this bill is probably Taron Johnson, who obviously doesn't affect games at a level like Jones, Bruce, etc.

We swung at Von and that injury set us back. If Garrett really wants out of Cleveland, I would be all about it

No, sorry, but you have to find guys like Garrett or TJ Watt in the draft.  If you’re getting someone like that in a trade, they’re either going to be on the downside of their career or the price (and contract) will just be too high.

Garrett is not on the downside of his career, we will never be drafting high enough to have a better chance at someone like that, I would rather go for the sure thing over the next 4 years than hope our scratch off lottery ticket hits (draft pick).

Chris Jones is a second rounder.

Ok and? Have you seen who we have drafted on the DL during the McBeane era? Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, AJ Epenesa, Boogie Basham all taken in the first 2 rounds. Like I said it is possible not likely. People talk about not wanting to waste prime Josh, but want to sit back and take chances for a few years on draft picks when we can go out and get a proven solution that has immediate impact.

It's the reason why "team reporters" is a misnomer.  They're just the NFL version of Baghdad Bob.

Honestly, where else is a guy like that going to earn a living for his family?  He’s got a plum job working the Bills sidelines and has to talk for a couple hours a day on the radio. I don’t know how much he makes, but it’s obviously a better gig than what Dunne and the podcasters have to do to make a living.
