Dont know that Surtain will be on Coop all game. I dont think he shadows a WR, I thought they basically gave him a side of the field to shut down.

Fair enough, but I think they’ll have to. Denver DL is tremendous. Other than Sutain, they’re weak in coverage -especially their LBs and Nickel. Eventually, Josh will go deep. If PS isn’t covering Amari, ring up 6pts, imo.

It just kind of feels like Mahomes is bored unless it's Allen standing on the other side of the field from him.

1000% how I’ve felt all season. They are bored with their regular season success. They know what it takes. They are battle tested and can turn it on when it matters. You could see it over the last couple games (excluding final game where no one played) where their offense came on and started looking a lot more potent. Their defense will definitely show up in the playoffs. Can’t be fooled by what I would only call their regular season disinterest. They will be one tough out for anyone.

Sunday weather keeps improving...basically perfect football weather for this time of year.

Cloudy, 31 degrees and light winds 5-10 mph.  Weather will NOT play a factor in this it seems.

Looking like the Colts playoff game condition. Wasn’t that a nice sunny one?

Some wild games we’ve had with Denver through the years, including 10-7 AFCCG and this!

I remember watching that game live. Talk about how fast a game can change and momentum can be a hard force to stop once it gets going! This is a reason playing at home is an advantage.

I watch him just to get Bills content but He has gotten more annoying.

This is just getting so sensationalized to me.  like yea if you start dropping playoff games to the broncos of the league it gets obvious what you have to do.  But the teams that we’ve been losing to have first ballot hof qbs also that are gonna put points on the board against anyone.  Chiefs had a few games each playoff run against top tier offenses where they had to score 30 or 40+ to win.

The defensive mastermind that ‘stopped’ banged up mahomes in the playoffs that one time just got fired and their head coach is on the hot seat for missing the playoffs so I think it’s pretty safe to say no one in the league really has the recipe for the playoff chiefs.  Heck it’s not even like belichick did it, they had to score 36 to win that one and they got lucky with an ot coin toss.

I just don’t know who you’re bringing in for head coach that’s gonna flip the script.  Let’s say you hire Ben Johnson tomorrow, even if you have a pretty low opinion of mcd defensively who is Johnson bringing in at DC to right the ship? I don’t think you’re getting someone better than mcd even if you don’t like mcd.  The big name DCs will get head coaching gigs and he’ll probably be stuck with a retread head coach level guy for DC which is what the anti mcd crowd sees mcd as anyway 🤣. I think it’s a big risk to probably end up right back in the same place at best.

the ‘if it doesn’t happen this year it won’t happen’ argument just doesn’t suit the nfl playoffs imo.  It’s so ridiculously high variance where the team that wins it is probably catching a few breaks along the way.  To me, there isn’t this huge distinction between regular season bills chiefs games with massive playoff seeding implications and the playoff games. Both teams are throwing everything they have into both those kinds of games.   Pretty much any of them could’ve gone either way and the playoff sample size is just way too small to single out.

I didn't say if it doesn't happen this year.

I said specifically if the defense is terrible vs Denver and we lose or more broadly speaking the defense is terrible vs Baltimore or even KC.

I'm telling you that we will never get to a super bowl with him as HC if that happens. Too much data will be in.

The defense is healthy. We just saw Aaron Glenn with all kinds of injuries get it done in a massive massive game vs a formidable offense.

As to "oh but who can we hire" is ridiculous framing.... Sean Payton was just available. Vrabel is available, maybe Ben Johnson is the next bill Walsh. But regardless, we know that even with dick jaroun or any replacement level coach that can tie his shoes, Allen will most likely still win the division and the team will be in the playoffs most years. How do I know this? Because Allen has 2 13 win seasons with a 16th ranked defense and 11th ranked defense in points against. In other words, even without a top ten defense Allen still has multiple years winning 13 games....

The goal is to win multiple Superbowls with a first ballot Hof QB. Not be good and turn into the Warren Moon oilers

More than anything in this playoff, another poster already said it. I want to see McDermott play to frickin win on defense. Go after the QB , take chances and dictate to the offense.

I can live with mistakes, I can live with maybe a bad playoff performance on defense. But I can't deal with just sitting back and letting the offense do whatever they want.

I want to see a level of intensity and aggression on defense that resembles a defensive unit that is going to philosophically put everything on the table.

As cliche as it sounds, whatever you fear is usually what you will manifest. Go into this playoff fearless and live with the results

After reading this whole thread and watching all the pundit talk show… I've adjusted my expectations.   I hope we can just keep it to a 3 score game at half time, so the Bills can hopefully close the gap and only lose by 7-10 pts and not be completely embarrassed.     Man I wish we coulda gotten an easier team, someone like the Chiefs, in the WC round.  How did we end up facing the leagues best defense that shuts everyone down and the leagues most dynamic QB in the WC round!? It just aint right.

Fire everyone and hire anyone to replace them.  We suck.   And its only Wednesday!

Funny you mention that, I was thinking that the Bills game plan vs the Ravens if it gets to that should be to play 3 LB formations and use Dorian as the spy against Lamar.  He’s a see and run sort of player, he wouldn’t be exposed to his biggest weakness which is dropping back into coverage, serves as a third and beefed up player against the run and he’s the most athletic out of the linebackers which is best suited to pursue Lamar.

I think a 5 man rush with the spy against Lamar can be effective

I like the 3 LB idea but 5 man rush with a spy is pretty limiting from a coverage perspective. It’s essentially cover 0. 5 man rush with cover 3 behind could work but you’re really stressing those front line defenders if he breaks contain.

Art Wander, Chuck Dickerson, Steven A Smith, Mike and the Mad Dog, Howard Eskin, Angelo Cataldi....

They all have/had actual tv/radio shows. I’m talking about Jim Bob and a mic in his Mom’s basement.

If you mean Cappaccio, Sal is cuz he’s so damn full of himself. To me, that’s far more annoying than a blowhard.

he doesn't honestly report anymore which is why i am over him. he has admitted there are things he can and cannot talk about that he is aware of but can only discuss what is permitted in order not to alienate himself.

he'd rather be in with the cool kids than do the job of an honest reporter.

It's the reason why "team reporters" is a misnomer.  They're just the NFL version of Baghdad Bob.
