Neo Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Do you change Allen for McDaniels? No. Do you change McDaniels for Allen? No. Imagine bringing a west coast speed guy into this personnel group or asking the new coach what he knows about other approaches? No. Besides, we couldn’t afford him if his ask includes buying long pants. 1 Quote
BigAl2526 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I honestly don't think McDermott would consider McDaniels. McDaniels seems addicted to speedy players and big plays in the passing game. I think he would want to make a significant change in Buffalo's skill position players on offense, and that would upset Beane's strategy of steady change and long term management of the cap. McDermott is fond of balance. I think he might worry that McDaniel's system might lead to an uptick in Josh's interception ration. Also, I wonder if McDaniel's offensive tendencies would fare well in the potential weather conditions that Buffalo has after mid-season. 1 Quote
L Ron Burgundy Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Really hoping Brady stays. He's been phenomenal. If he goes we need a very high quality replacement. McDaniel fits but you'd have to make sure he is the type that can alter his system to fit personnel not the other way around. Yes, he's a nerd. Don't care. 1 Quote
Bruffalo Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Who are the other choices in this hypothetical? Considering we've gone away from speedsters and towards bigger bodied receivers, I don't think it would be a good fit. 1 Quote

Well if “box of rocks” is one of the other choices then McDaniel is already in second place and falling. 1 1 Quote

GETTOTHE50 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 It’s not a terrible thought. He has gotten the fish to the playoffs a couple of times. Could do much worse for an OC. Quote
Scott7975 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 This is all moot. Dolphins already made a statement they are keeping McD and Grier. Quote
RobbRiddick Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I think his system is so reliant on timing and scripting that Josh wouldn't be suited to it. This is why I believe Tua deserves credit. As a guy you could take and ask to do something when it all breaks down and his has to ad lib, he's terrible. As a guy who just plays completely within that system, he's good. 1 Quote
gordong Posted January 7 Posted January 7 No I think he's average OC. the system he has works (sometimes), but he doesnt adapt to the players he has in place. Quote

Buffalo ill Posted January 7 Posted January 7 No. The Bills struggle against physical teams. They don't need even less testosterone in the building. Quote

My only problem with hiring young up and coming OCs is they will immediately become the hottest head coaching candidate because you know Josh will run a top 5 offense. Go get an older guy, former head coach that isn’t likely to get another opportunity. Sean McDermott tried to hire Mike McCoy as OC in the past. I know he’s struggled recently but he’ll do great with an MVP QB. Quote
Danger Mouse Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Maybe Special Teams coach. If he asks really nicely. Quote
