Perplexing to me.

They kept the guy (which I thought was the wrong move), gave him nothing at QB, traded away their best offensive weapon....then fired him. This isn't a serious organization.

And they really aren't likely to attract a great coach with their QB situation.

It really is an effed-up situation and I can't imagine any good, talented leader wanting anything to do with that team. Perhaps Tom Brady has an answer?

Would it be quicker to list who the Jets haven't asked to interview?

Raiders front office is more fun to watch than their team.

Since giving Gruden that crazy contract, they’ve: fired Gruden for off field stupidity, then passed over his interim replacement who made the playoffs (Bisaccia) in order to hire franchise-destroyer extraordinaire Josh McDaniels, only to fire that guy after he ran their franchise quarterback out of town and THIS time they KEEP the interim coach — only to also fire him after just one year with one of the least talented teams in the league.

Just how many guys are they paying right now to NOT be their head coach? And how can I become one of them? 😆

Another minority coach fired after one year. A bit surprising from an organization that has a very very good track record of hiring minority coaches.

I thought it was a weak hire in the first place, but what other head coach would have done any better with that roster???

AP is piece of garbage, left ASU in shambles after he and Herm committed many recruiting violations and “failed up” by becoming the Raiders HC…today is a day of celebration.

Dear Mr. Johnson,

As Mr. Levy's personal physician, I feel his advanced age (99) does not allow him to consider joining your organization as either head coach or GM.  Not due to the rigours of the positions, but because of the clusterf*** style of ownership.

Yours truly,

Mal Practice, M.D.

No matter if you think it has anything to do with race or not, the numbers look bad for the NFL.  Of the 6 coaches fired this season, 3 were minorities, 50% of coaches fired.  Since 2010 13 coaches have been 1 & done and 5 of the 13 were minorities (38%).

The Pierce era is a good example about how bad teams stay bad.

Gruden leaves.

Bisacchia as interim leads the team to the postseason.

The players clamor to keep Bisacchia.

Ownership decides the horrific leader of men McDaniels is better.

They trade for Adams who they pay big money too because he wants to play with Carr.

McDaniels cuts Carr, pays a washed Jimmy G.

McDaniels is obviously fired. Pierce takes over as interim.

Players clamor for Pierce and they are already pretty pissed after what happened previous.

Fearing player revolt, Raiders hire a guy they honestly probably didn’t want to.

They proceed to fire him when he’s predictably bad because they have no faith in him.

Compounding mistakes. Brutal to watch.

Ownership seems to be a prevalent problem in teams and their dysfunction.

Thank god for the Pegula’s.

Can’t believe Mayo and Pierce didn’t produce better results with those awesome teams and stud qbs. But clearly, Callahan and Daboll proved themselves and deserve long leashes.

hopefully, Dennis Allen and Pat Shurmur will get another chance. 3rd time is the charm.

At least in football (which Terry cares less about 😂).

The last years of Ralph were brutal, and they didn't improve until Russ Brandon stopped being involved in football decisions.

A bad organization can turn around if the hire the right coach & GM even with a medaling owner as shown by the Bills of the 1990s.  Now eventually the owner will mess things up again (like firing Polian because he disparaged Ralph's daughter), but there can be good years even with the worst of owners.

If the Raiders luck into a good coach & QB, they can win with Mark Davis, but it won't last beyond the QB's time with the team.

Who wins the Mike Vrabel sweepstakes?  Not only are the NE Patriots interested in Vrabel but the NY Jets, NO Saints, and Chicago Bears are also in the hunt!

Chicago would be a good job for Vrabel. That roster is very good. Its in a tough division, but he could win games there quickly. They need stable leadership

I have not been called. I'll let them know if that was a good idea later

Race is meaningless.

you hire the best, or who you think is best, and fire the worst.

they are all the same at a certain point.

The same could be said for Buffalo when they hired McD, (but it worked out very well (in spite of what some posters here will say)  So you never know, they could get lucky, but odds are against them as more than half of new, never prior HC's fail when given their first HC job.  You could hire a re-tread, but in some cases they were fired the first or even second time due to a weak overall roster particularly at QB  Andy Read comes to mind.  But again most of the re-treads are there for a reason.

The problem is that these owners think they are the smartest people on the planet and should know who to hire like Cowboys owner Jerry Jones who is his own team's general manager. He thinks that he was the one who built those Super Bowl teams... not Jimmy Johnson!

What they should be doing is hiring a consulting group like the Pegula's did to find the right guy. It's all about building a culture for the franchise along with hiring talented coaches. The Pegulas learned the hard way by first being hornswoggled by a bigmouthed con man in Rex Ryan.

I'm hoping that Mike Vrabel is hired outside of the AFC East as the guy was saddled with a moron of a GM while with Tennessee who first drafted and then traded AJ Brown to the Eagles.
