I am not saying he will get fired. I don't expect him to. I am saying if there is a surprise team that is where I am looking. Chris Grier (GM) is very tight with the owner and will happily throw the coach under the bus to save his own skin. Personally I think the roster is old, expensive, and average.

John ‘Beavis’ Mara is one patient and forgiving man if he doesn’t fire Schoen.  There he was on Hard Knocks saying after Schoen let Saquan Barkley leave and signed Daniel Jones to an extension “I hope I don’t regret this”.  
 

Jones ends up being waived while Barkley has a tremendous season.

It would be crazy for either of those teams to go with a defensive guy again. I do think Joseph deserves another shot at a head coaching gig, but would be a bit surprised if he gets a shot at either of those places. 

 

The Jets job sounds like its gonna be the one no one wants. So perhaps they will find a guy who settles for whatever opening is available, eg Rex Ryan.

Its good he has plans.   The problem is I don't think he has a whiff of an idea about how poorly the Jets organization is perceived by potential coaching hires.   It reminds me of when Ralph thought he could bring Cowher to Buffalo.   Woody's plan should include a bridge Quarterback and Head Coach and bottoming out to try and go get Arch Manning.

The fact that Johnson will be involved in the Jets football operations makes me happy as he is clueless in how to build a good football team. The more he gets involved the more the Jets suck.

This was a chance to go out and hire a coach, new GM and a grab a QB in the draft and reset. Instead whatever QB they draft will have likely 3 HCs in his first 2 years. (Daboll, an interm and a new guy the following year). We saw how that worked out for Mayfield.

If the Giants are keeping Daboll it's because the feelers they already put out told them that none of the top candidates are interested. Might as well wait out another cycle

I don't know. I think the Giants have some really good pieces in place. They need a quarterback, with Nabers there I think it can be an attractive spot. Maybe they go after Tee Higgins as well. They should not draft a QB imo. As crazy as it sounds, I think they could go full press after Sam Darnold or JJ McCarthy. I do think Bills brass really loved Darnold and Allen in 2018. Joe Schoen was here during that process. Not sure the Vikings let him go, but I think, despite his failure with the Jets, he's the guy the Giants go full-court press after.

Look at Chicago. Trubisky, Fields, and now Williams all got drafted by a coach who would up getting fired their rookie year, only for the new coach to not see success and then have to go draft “their guy”.

 

 

Trubisky: John Fox -> Matt Nagy

Fields: Matt Nagy -> Matt Eberflus

Williams: Matt Eberflus -> ?????

I feel like they either need to go Ben Johnson or an experienced guy. They can't go milquetoast assistant again. I don't know if they go there, but Gruden makes sense. Maybe Pederson gets hired again right away. But Ben Johnson should be the #1 target fro those guys.

Also have to wonder who would ever want to work for Shad Khan at Jax.  Between having to lose a home game every single year, two overseas games, and a moribund fan base.

As of right now I'm seeing the Giants have $57M in cap space for next year. Would make it difficult to go after both Darnold and Higgins. Not impossible, of course. But difficult with the holes they already have to fill.
