Raiders front office is more fun to watch than their team.

Since giving Gruden that crazy contract, they’ve: fired Gruden for off field stupidity, then passed over his interim replacement who made the playoffs (Bisaccia) in order to hire franchise-destroyer extraordinaire Josh McDaniels, only to fire that guy after he ran their franchise quarterback out of town and THIS time they KEEP the interim coach — only to also fire him after just one year with one of the least talented teams in the league.

Just how many guys are they paying right now to NOT be their head coach? And how can I become one of them? 😆

There also always seems to be reports that Davis is cash poor.  With the NFL ‘s TV contracts, how can an owner be so inept to be cash poor?  Did his dad leave him with a lot of debt or does he have lavish spending habits?  He sure doesn’t spend money on a hair stylist.

Brady finally getting back at Peirce for the Giants ruining the Pats undefeated season.

In all seriousness, they did Peirce and Mayo dirty and the league will make sure Flores gets a job this year to keep everyone at bay.

I just think its kind of crazy. Like, why does a guy like Brian Callahan get a pass? He had Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Hopkins, Jeffrey Simmons, Tyler Boyd, L'Jarius Snead, Harold Landry, Tony Pollard...a bunch of high picks on the offensive line and his very experienced dad by his side and went 3-14.

Callahan was terrible this season and definitely deserves to be let go, same with Steichen in Indy.

Keeping a failing coach dooms your next season as well. Might as well make the move now instead of week 7 next season.

Jets are still looking to talk to literally everyone about their HC job. It's good to be thorough, but at this point their search seems rudderless.

It was a similar process that led the Pegulas to Rex Ryan. They interviewed about a dozen guys all types no specifications... was a mess.

Mark Davis' and Mike Brown's only high-value asset is their team. For most NFL owners, the team is, at best, a break-even hobby. And BTW, Mark Davis spends a lot of money on that stupid haircut: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/13735322/are-mark-davis-raiders-leaving-oakland

Raiders also requested interview with Spags.

That actually makes a lot of sense, as Tom Brady is supposedly involved heavily in the HC search. He knows how good Spags is better than most.

Looks like the Raiders put in a request to him as well. This would be a nice blow to the Chiefs

Speaking of Spags!

"Jets' rumors could lead to full Chiefs takeover of franchise leadership"

Specifically, the Jets are wanting to interview Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo for the role of head coach and Chiefs exec Mike Borgonzi to potentially take over as general manager. Together they would infuse the AFC West team with the experience and culture of a team that's won three of the last five Super Bowls.

Jets coaching search starting to remind me of threads here regarding players waived from other teams: "I've heard of him!!  Bring him in!! Get-r-done!!!!"

Sort of like sprinkling fairy dust on the Jets organization, eh? 🤣🤨

Especially with no GM in place.

It is an interesting read, it looks like Albert Breer is upset over what the NE Patriots owner is up to.

"Breer: Patriots head coach search ‘looks like a sham"

https://sports.yahoo.com/breer-patriots-head-coach-search-022734515.html

I mean, yeah it very well may be. But if they already know who they want forcing two minority interviews in them isn't going to suddenly change that.

Here's the thing. In their own minds even the Hamiltons and Leftwiches of the coaching ranks have to know what the interview is about. They have to know that deep down they have no chance. But yet they take the interview. There are minority coaches that will take any interview and that is what allows owners to get away with it. Years ago, James Lofton interviewed for almost every job to satisfy "Rooney Rule". Now sure, maybe someone takes an interview and blows them away ala Mike Tomlin, but it's not likely.

If unqualified minority coaches would stop appeasing the owners it would prevent them from exploiting the loophole of the rule.

And before anyone gets too far ahead of themselves as far as "Patriots Bad"....their HC search so far has resembled the Bills last 3 coordinator hiring practices.

Job open-> Interview external minority candidate -> Interview 2nd external minority candidate -> Interview and hire who they already knew they wanted for the job (Dorsey, Babich, Brady)

I'm the farthest thing from a Patriots* defender, but there's nothing wrong with knowing who you want to hire and then hiring that candidate. It happens every single day in business and there's nothing untoward about it.

Vrabel and NE is an unusual case, in that you have a former Patriots player who was popular during his time there, has successful HC experience and is sought after this hiring cycle, is in the team's HOF, and is the guy the fans and owner seem to want. Also he seems to want that particular job.

He IS the best candidate for the NE job. It's clear. There is no controversy or reason for outrage.

This situation almost never happens. There's no clear cut favorite for any of the other openings, so anyone interviewing in NE this cycle gets the situation.

The Florios of the world want to throw a tantrum about Pierce and Mayo being let go after 1 year, but both seemed in over their heads, especially Mayo.

Meanwhile, Glenn is one of the most sought after coaches this cycle. If Tomlin were a free agent he would be on everyone's list. If Deion Sanders wanted to jump to the NFL he would be a highly sought after name too.

As far as Leftwich goes, how soon we forget that he was basically going to be the Jaguars HC before Pederson was hired but tried pulling a power play and ended up not getting that job. He was the favorite, and it was almost a done deal but he blew it himself. How is he not "legitimate" to interview?

Ben Johnson and Chicago seems to be the outlier to that statement amongst the pundits.

True, but there are rumors that Ben Johnson doesn't interview well and has unusually high demands, so it'll be interesting to see.

Part of me thinks he is a bit too full of himself and it comes across poorly. I can absolutely see him being the offensive version of Brandon Staley.

I remember when Brian Schottenheimer was too good to interview for certain teams (like the Bills) and was going to pick his spot for a HC gig.

Both had bad QB situations. Steichen nearly won the division with Minshew last year

Callahan is gonna get his QB. Steichen better have an alternative to Richardson

Richardson looks like a bust to me.

Any QB who taps out in a crucial moment because he's tired (and also sees no issue with it) is going to have a tough time.
