I'm not sure any team would have given up picks to move up in the draft to take Ward, much less Sanders.

You have the Giants, Browns, Titans, Saints and Jets that all need a QB in the top 10. Any one of those teams could but a package together for the 1st OA. Now the Titans will take a QB for sure and you have the Browns that may or may not trade.

This Win by NE cost them multiple 1st , 2nd and/or 3rd rd picks! That's factual.  Love it!

Brilliant by the Bills

I’d say that in most years.

I don’t know if this draft is a special QB class worth trading up to pick one

I was texting a couple buddies who are Pats fans.  They wanted to lose desperately.  I told the at halftime Milton cares too much, and may not have been the best choice to play.  That's a game NE should have capped it at 6 or 7 points and not try to score after that.  Really bad they didn't get the #1 overall.  Good for the AFC East but they still could've gotten their guy and a bunch of extra picks.

No offense, but this would still hold true. According to the draft value chart, the difference in the 1st pick and 4th pick is the equivalent of the 12th pick. If I told you, “you have the option right now to give the Pats the 12th overall pick for nothing,” you wouldn’t do that. That’s the exact point regardless of their spotty draft history. They essentially gave up the value of the 12th pick in the draft and an early 4th by winning today. That’s a bad thing for them and a good thing for us.

If you meant a distant 2nd, meaning the best of 3 other bad teams, sure.

The lead singer for my band is a huge Pats fan. Born and grew up in Boston. He said, "I can never root for my team to lose". I'd have to say he's in the minority.

Add to it, Cook ties the single season TD record from OJ, SAM Martin gets his bonus, Von gets his bonus on the 1st play if the game, and so on.  I guess the whole McD narrative again is debunked.  Fantastic.

Cheats welcome to the suck for another 5 years.

In a draft with a consensus franchise QB, sure.  This isn't one of those.

I wouldn't call it some sort of genius "masterclass". It's just a situation of the circumstances dictating a preferred outcome. He wasn't instructing people to not score or play less than. Our backups and 3rd stringers just couldn't get the win and that ended up being a good thing.

Not sure what you mean? I posted the draft value chart. Moving from 1 to 4 is the equivalent of the 12th pick. The last 4 guys picked 12 are: Bo Nix, Jahmyr Gibbs, Jameson Williams and Micah Parsons.

It only takes one team right to get desperate to move up …. Anyway … it’s a moot point now 😛

I wasn't disputing that we should be happy they lost the 1st overall.  I'm saying that even if they had it, their poor drafting would have still been a problem.

Jeremy2020 had it perfect:

"The Bills were playing like a team that didn't want any injuries or to show anything to teams for the playoffs. Costing the Pats #1 OA was just a bonus. There is one person to blame that the Pats weren't playing like that as well and it's not on another team."

Top-3 yes.  I was talking about giving up a lot of picks to move to 1 (with the Patriots) to take one.

That's possible.  But it's moot now.
