Roundybout Posted January 5 Posted January 5 We lost the Old Pink a few months ago, now Mulligans is toast! I actually preferred drinking at Mulligans over the Pink even though I never went to both with great frequency. Very sad. 1 Quote

BuffaloBill Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Did the Canucks have a hand in this? Remember that in 1812 there was a little bit of a feud over a burned up bar in B-Lo. Quote
muppy Posted January 5 Posted January 5 this news makes me sad. My sisters college apartment was in a building on the corner of Allen and Elmwood catty corner from the old Towne Red Hots. Which is also closed from what I gather. walking distance to my sister's apartment we went there lots. RIP another landmark of my youth. a la ****** Quote

aristocrat Posted January 5 Posted January 5 The guy who burned the pink down and started another vehicle on the same block is out on bail. I’d imagine he’s getting interviewed. 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 My hanging out at bars era is long over but it is sad to hear about the Buffalo staples being burned down or the other ones that are closing. Def a changing of the times and you will never be able to rebuild the character places like The Pink and Mulligans had. Sad day in WNY history Quote

Fleezoid Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Do they get a "mulligan" so they can rebuild down the road? Quote

I have learned that the water is the real danger to the bricks, because they get soggy and lose their strength. We /barely/ saved our old Territorial Capital building here in Golden when it burned - it was the fire hose water that posed the real danger to losing the structure. For weeks they literally had 4x4's holding a whole side of the building up. 1 Quote

Wacka Posted January 7 Posted January 7 (edited) In seem to remember (~50 year old memory) that Cassidy's was on the East Side of the Elmwood strip. One of if not the first bar on that side. Don't know what the cross street there is. Almost across from No Name Edited January 7 by Wacka Quote

Fire codes. 3. Insurance requirements. Everything "new" now has to be built big and wide and flat, and (unfortunately) generic. 1 Quote
