I want Myles Garrett, he’s the missing piece…… but I wouldn’t give up a first round pick for him….. great post

Hey now, that first round pick could be anything. It could even be Myles Garrett!

The Browns would be crazy to trade him. But how crazy would it be for him to request a trade to a contender? Not that crazy. That is a toxic wasteland.

That's where all this talk is coming from.  Sounds like he wants out and wants to go to a Contender

A couple of firsts is a good place to start ... Then you have to have room under the cap to pay him ... Goodbye Miller, Milano, Douglas, Daquan, Bass maybe even Dawkins... Is it still a good sounding idea ?

lol I think Myles Garrett is ABSOLUTELY than Miller, Milano, Douglas, Daquan and Bass.

And he may cost us the next Elam or Boogie Basham or Cody Ford??? Perish the thought.

You have a point on Elam but neither Boogie nor Ford (who they were praising non stop last night) were 1st round picks as you know.

Too much.

the bills need to find the their own high end defensive lineman in the draft.  They have a lot of picks again and with the offense set defense should be the priority.

yes I know about wr.

Yes because they've been able to do such a great job of that so far

They have drafted good not great defensive lineman.

they need to find some great ones going forward.

Hendrickson might be gone from cincy so I’d rather sign him without any picks.

what team thinks giving up two firsts for him will get them over the top that doesn’t have a top d end? I’d say Denver or the commanders.

Lol, I love threads like this. 😂😂 Watching fans overvalue their own assets, while undervaluing the assets of everyone else is a tradition like no other. I’m not here to burst anyone’s bubble, but if your offer starts with, “one of our 2nds from this year, Epenesa and a pick in 2026” you don’t know who Myles Garrett is. 😂😂

It will probably cost something like, “your 1st, a 2nd & Groot or Oliver.” You aren’t trading for “a slight upgrade.” You’re trading for, arguably, the best defensive player in football. He’s a future HOFer that hasn’t reached 30. I’d be on board with it. I think Rousseau is a really nice player and developing. I’d probably include him for the simple fact that I could avoid paying both of them.

edit: If I did deal Rousseau in this hypothetical package, I’d take a DE with the rd. 2 pick left (I’d love one of the Ohio State guys there).

2025 1st

Make this trade in a second, less than Bennett

1988 1st

1989 1st

1989 2nd

Greg Bell

(All of which ended up with the Rams along with Colts' 1988 1st and 2nd round and 1989 2nd round picks and Owen Gill.)

Agree but not sure I have the faith in them getting it done.  Garrett is a sure thing

There was already a failed thread on this topic a few weeks ago,

that and it’s never ever gonna happen,

Why?

Garrett publicly basically said he wants out of Cleveland. Browns are most likely going to blow up the roster as the oline has gotten old quick and they have no QB.

Very good chance Garrett is traded.

Probably will take two #1s and a huge contract extension.

Problem is Bills first round draft picks will be very late round picks.

Browns won't trade to Cinci. But there is probably a team that is out if the playoffs and has a QB now that might make the move. Maybe a team like Miami, AZ, or the Bears.

Actually, yes.

This wouldn’t affect Dawkins.

The others should likely be off this team within the next 1-2 years anyway.

Von & Douglas likely gone this offseason (even if Von balls out in the postseason, we shouldn’t pay a guy what he’s owed who’s only a rotational pass rusher now) and Milano & Jones will probably be gone after next season.

Id even offer our 1st and both 2nds this year and see if they bite.   Cleveland may want the immediate capital to quickly build their team.

That would leave us with likely two 4’s, three 5’s and three 6’s.   Eight cost effective picks for depth & development.

Beane has been able to find good depth and above average players at a pretty high rate on Day 3.

What we’ve never had is a Chris Jones.

If they can, they should build this Defense around Garrett & Rousseau.  Fill in the pieces everywhere else.. even if that means no extensions for Bernard, Benford and/or Shakir.  All 3 of them can be replaced due to defensive scheme/system and Josh Allen.  Maybe an unpopular statement here, but true.

Now let’s go win a Super Bowl and make this discussion more difficult, because as of now, I’m all in on a big move like this for Garrett or Crosby.

this is a bad idea for countless reasons

this is a bad idea for countless reasons, many of which have already been stated.   trust the process, McBeanes will bring you your precious SB , but only in the context of ongoing quality, productivity and winning on the field.

What would it take? Below is my estimation. I think this would accompany Garrett restructuring his contract and the Browns possibly taking some money on given the hefty return.

Bills get

  • Myles Garrett
  • 2025 5th round pick
  • 2026 6th round pick

Browns get

  • Bills 2025 1st round pick
  • Bears 2025 4th round pick
  • Bills 2026 2nd round pick
  • Bills 2025 6th round pick
  • Bills 2026 5th round pick

I think this amounts to quite a good haul for the Browns who get a late 1st, a early 4th, and a 2nd in 2026 for a soon to be 30 year old pass rusher plus a favorable pick swap in 2026 on late round picks. The Bills get their man and keep both their 2nd round picks in 2025 and get back a 5th in 2025 to ease the loss of picks. There's also a favorable 5th for a 6th swap going the Browns way in 2026.

For me I think given how good the past few draft classes have looked very good (2022 and 2023 look great while the early returns on 2024 are solid) I would rather the Bills not plunge a lot of draft resources and cap space into a 30 year old player.

Garrett will be turning 30 next season, I guess after our current 30 yr old big contract DE, I'd be a bit hesitant and I'm a fan of his.

Didn’t the Bills add Miller at 33 and not 30? We really can’t use those numbers interchangeably. In theory, you’d have the 3 best years of Garrett as opposed to Von.
