billsfanmiamioh Posted Saturday at 07:06 AM Posted Saturday at 07:06 AM Weatherbug is best radar. Feel like AccuWeather is the best for couple days out getting the “big picture”. And I think weather.com is best “in the moment”, however, their app is absolute trash. Quote
DrW Posted Saturday at 09:00 AM Posted Saturday at 09:00 AM Don't know about apps. On the PC, the web site of the National Weather Service (weather.gov) is my favorite. The main possible problem is that it is sometimes too detailed, and you will need a minute to find the info you need. Quote
Simon Posted Saturday at 12:56 PM Posted Saturday at 12:56 PM https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap The most precise radars, imo. NWS for everything else. 1 Quote

Definitely the best for lightning. At my golf club people literally look for me when bad weather approaches, I'm always the first one off the course. I tell folks if I'm walking off you can probably get a few more holes in, might even miss us all together and get your whole round in. If you see me running, keep up. 2 1 Quote

I had a tennis buddy who was once hit by lightning. The courts where we played are surrounded by a golf course, and an alarm goes off if lightning gets within 5 miles or something. When the alarm went off, he moved much faster than anything he did on the court. 1 Quote

I golf a lot and am always struggling with accurate weather predictions. I walk a lot, so it’s tough for me to get off the course fast too. 1 Quote

I'll give it to 20 miles, maybe 15 if it's slow moving, to change direction then start walking off. Once it hits 10 I'm doing my version of running. As you probably know if you hear thunder the lightning is within 10 miles, which is the distance it can strike from. Don't put much faith in lightning shelters unless they're enclosed. My one goal in golf is for there never to be a Steve O memorial lightning shelter. 1 1 Quote

Wacka Posted Saturday at 08:34 PM Posted Saturday at 08:34 PM (edited) Looking out the window.😁 Seriously, if lightning hits really close, I am jumpy. Back in 1963, we had lightning hit a tree on the property next door (was a vacant lot then). Then sometime in the 70's it hit a bigger tree on our property about 50 ft away from the 60s strike,. It was adjacent to our detached garage Was old and falling apart. The charge jumped to the wires on the garage and tripped the breakers in the house. No damage but I happened to be facing the draped window and saw a huge orange and white flash and a tremendous rumble. Thought a nuke had gone off. Edited Saturday at 08:35 PM by Wacka Quote
