gonzo1105 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Just now, JerseyBills said: You're 100% positive?? Well no i'm not 100%, but I follow draft stuff pretty religiously and scout a lot of players during the year and during the draft process so I have been following over the caps scenario all year. Originally we have 4 players lost to 2 gained and since the season has advanced Settle has been added to the lost column and Hollins has been added to the gained column. Hasn't changed anything and as I stated earlier, someone had asked about how the Davis injury might affect our comp picks so then I reached out to Nick Korte to find out and he said Davis would drop from a 4 to 5, which has since also been updated on their page. If your asking if I'm positive we don't have a 3rd round pick, let alone 2, yeah I'm 100% positive lol. 1 Quote

Ethan in Cleveland Posted January 4 Posted January 4 9 hours ago, BillsFanForever19 said: I would believe it. Initially, it was supposed to be a 4th and a 5th for them. A 4th for Davis and a 5th for Floyd. My guess is it dropped to a 5th bc Davis ended up being lost for the season in Week 11. The Edmunds pick dropped from a 3rd to a 4th last year bc they changed the rules of the compensatory formula on a dime to take into account void year money and carefully written contracts that skirted comp pick cancellations. That in conjunction with Edmunds missing a couple games made the pick come in less than expected. This years projections took the new rules into account when they were made. We're already getting less than expected bc of Davis' injury with 2 5th's instead of the initial projection of a 4 and a 5. I really don't see us getting less than that or them changing the rules to be more strict on a dime once again. It was too much of a headache for the league last season dealing with all the appeals. And generally when they make an unpopular change that makes things more difficult on teams one year, they take it easier the following year (ie Cap figures coming under unexpected one year are made up for the next). Currently, our expected picks are as follows: Round 1 Round 2 Round 2 (from Minnesota Vikings for Stefon Diggs and our 2025 5th Round Pick) Round 4 Round 4 (from Chicago Bears for a 2024 5th Round Pick) Round 5 (Compensatory for Gabe Davis) Round 5 (Compensatory for Leonard Floyd) Round 6 Round 6 (from New York Giants for Boogie Basham) Round 6 (from Cleveland Browns with Amari Cooper for our 2025 3rd Round Pick) You have the 2nd round picks backwards. Bills will be picking 64 th in second round. Vikings probably around 58. Quote
transplantbillsfan Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Kinda sucks because originally I thought they talked about a 4th for Gabe. Quote

You'd give up Two 1st's, Two 2nd's, Two 4th's, Two 5th's, and Three 6th's for one DE? Eleven lottery tickets and players under Rookie deals for a single player that we'd also have to designate a massive amount of cap space to? Thank God you're just a message board poster... The SI writer seems to have forgotten the Bills FA signings & is only looking at the Bills FA losses. Nah there is a pretty established formula. The signings and the losses have ready been netted off. 1 hour ago, transplantbillsfan said: Kinda sucks because originally I thought they talked about a 4th for Gabe. Yea but he missed half the year. Won't hit the snap count threasholds as a result. It will drop a round. 1 Quote

T master Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Beane will have a hay day given all this ammo it wouldn't surprise me if he moved up at some point to get a player he wants, hopefully there are some really good D linemen in this years draft . Quote

Which is kind of scary for the rest of the league. Don't we have a lot of dead money coming off the books next year too? Quote

Sierra Foothills Posted January 4 Posted January 4 9 minutes ago, Mr. WEO said: who was the greatest comp pick the Bills ever had? Probably Tom Brady. I think it had to do with the Bills signing Lawyer Milloy in 2003. Due to the arcane and indecipherable NFL compensatory draft rules, New England was awarded an extra retro-future 6th rounder in 2000. Or something like that. Quote

If I’m interpreting it correctly, Spotrac has us at 3rd most dead cap this season at $75M. $31M of that is Diggs, and then mostly of mix of the other vets that were released last offseason too. Heading into 2025, we’re sitting at 22nd with about $5.4M so far. $4.1M of that looks to be Tre White. So that’s another good point, right now about $70M less in dead cap. Really amazing what this team has been able to do this season so far, considering the cap situation. 1 Quote

I'm looking forward to the draft. Every GM has their Kaiir Elam moment. In my opinion, looking at the total record, Beane is a Top-10 drafter. Quote
