BillsFanNC Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) Anecdotally, I had flu before Christmas. Confirmed influenza A by Flu A/B/covid rapid at home test. This took me down hard. Far, far worse than both times I had covid. Edited January 3 by BillsFanNC 1

Far, far worse than both times I had covid. Congratulations. Anecdotally I have known one person who died of covid and several who suffer intermittent fibrotic lesions on their lungs compromising respiration and making them susceptible to pneumonia. Their doctors say they see it a lot with former long Covid patients. My worst viral sicknesses seemed to involve RSV over both the flu or Covid. I count myself very lucky I don't have to suffer long term effects of Covid. Anecdotally I've never known anyone suffering long term effects of the flu. Then there's the easily proven and understandable truth that worn masks reduce exposure of respiratory viruses to those around you whilst ######s like Bongino do their best to pervert this truth. Congratulations on not being able to understand science.
Wacka Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) I used to get the flu bad about every 3 years (usually when the flu the changed), as in loosing 10 lbs in a week or so. Then started getting the flu shot yearly. Not had it since. While in the ICU after my transplant, I caught parainfluenza which is a cousin of the "normal" flu bug. Normally, the ICU is a day or so, but my O2 level was in the 80% range and I had to stay there until it was in the 90s (a week). Plus I was pumped full of innunosupressants so that the new kidney wouldn't be rejected. I am on them the rest of my life but in August (6 mos) I was cleared to get vaccines. I got the shingrix(chicken pox/shingles) and pmeumonia shots in 2023 before the transplant. In November I got the Flu and COVID shots and went for the RSV shot the week before christmas. I explainedtp the pharmacist that I am immunocompromised and over 65. But they said since I don't have asthma or COPD, they weren't giving ne the RSV shot. I will ask the transplant center about that when I go for a checkup in February. Edited January 4 by Wacka

Good for you, you get a cookie. I know a family that lost 3 people to civics I know yep others with long term covid. I'm sure you don't care about anyone who does from it. 3 hours ago, BillsFanNC said: Masks do absolutely nothing as a public health measure to stop the spread of respiratory viruses. None. I know masks never existed before covid and I never seen anyone in public that has a compromised immune system wearing a mask.
Wacka Posted January 4 Posted January 4 If you saw me before July, I had one. I still carry one on me and in the car especially during the cold and flu season. 1

I wish you well with all your health issues, it has got to be tough to deal with day in and day out. People I know always ask me about my back and I tell them it is not going to kill me so I'm good. I never understood the big argument about masks. I hated them, never wanted to wear one, but I always had one on when I went into the store. Did they help? They may not be full proof? But it didn't hurt me to stay one. It sure wasn't worth arguing and protesting about. As soon as I got outside I took it off. I sad never harmed out deprived of anything. I just see Americans as big selfish babies, me me me.

I still had enouf\gh humility that I was apologizing profusely to the nurses. The dialysis I had during kidney's "wake up" period (2 weeks) was a breeze. But what was a real b was recovering from the incision. 35 staples. Healed in about 2.5 months. Then the director anted to see if it healed ok. She says there was fluid under age skin (none Around the new kidney). Gets the scalpel out and drains it. 5 weels of a wound vac on it for 24/7 and several more weeks of visiting nurses changing the dressing 3x/week. Taking my vitals morning and night is a snap as well as taking the 26 pills a day. Just can never have grapefruit or pomegranate ever again. They inactivate the anti-rejection meds. 1

That is a lot to go thru! I'll deal with my back issues. I'm always stiff, sore and in pain and that is if I'm not overdoing it. If I overdue it any swelling presses on nerves and I can't walk till the swelling goes away. The worst was 2 weeks. I haven't overdone it since. My bask is beyond operation so I just deal with it. All that being said, it's a walk in the park compared to what you deal with. I hope you are doing well!

Well, I think the issue with masks can be traced back to guidance, confusion and the crappy job done by people like Faucci and other leaders in government sending conflicting messages. I wore masks, social distanced, installed the magic plexiglass shield, vaxxed, had employees working from home….and watched a menagerie of dumbasses abuse the public trust. Fauci et al were not transparent about what our government was up to, the partnership with China, the possibility of a lab leak. We had politicians making rules up on the fly, treating different people differently, and in many cases completely disregarding their own rules and regulations. As for “me, me, me”, it seemed to me most Americans were compliant for much of the pandemic. However, when it became apparent it was largely a pandemic of the compliant, people stopped believing. Example: I flew back from Fla to NY during the pandemic, and live in NY. The rule in place to save the works according to Cuomo was that as a resident, I was required to quarantine and as I recall, get checked before returning to work (although that may have been a different time). Interestingly, for a resident of a contiguous state on the same plane as I, who worked or had business in NY, the rule was not in place. So, an infected soul in seat 29A was free to travel roam the state and infect so long as he lived in Mass or Ct. It was pretty silly. 1

The thing that gets me is that those that pulled the entire covid hoax & kept putting out narrative info to both Trump & Biden to actually go ahead and keep the narrative going like Fauci, Cuomo, and the many others are still walking around free still collecting their retirement pay checks which we pay for and all . Instead of looking at what was and reacting in a common sense type of way we can now see very clearly that they had some type of a planned narrative to weaken a very strong and vibrant economy to do 1 person harm in any way only to have the curtain pulled back & see who was pulling the levers . Then even after all of it coming to light & with the input of some common sense all can see that it was total BS and could have been handled in a much more responsible, sensible, way . And as usual the turd always floats to the top for all to see !!!
