We paid our penance for Diggs this year in full. Typically, agents of top RBs at this stage of their rookie deal have them hold out for a new contract. Don't come to OTAs, the whole bit. Expect Cook to do that in the spring. Quote
Chicken Boo Posted Friday at 01:07 PM Posted Friday at 01:07 PM Buffalo loses a critical element of their offense without James. Who else is there to break one besides Josh? Pay him or risk watching him go to a rival like KC. 2 2 Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted Friday at 01:25 PM Posted Friday at 01:25 PM I think running backs are going to fight mightily against the recent trend of them having limited value, especially in the light of the importance they’ve played this season on a number of top teams. I don’t think Cook is going to take some super cap friendly deal unfortunately. He might be one and done here. Hope I’m wrong however. 1 Quote
Gregg Posted Friday at 01:27 PM Posted Friday at 01:27 PM 197 carries 981 yards 15 TD's with an avg of 5.0 per carry. His 15 rushing TD's lead the league. 32 receptions for 258 yards and 2 TD's. Pay the man. 4 1 Quote
Lost Posted Friday at 01:50 PM Posted Friday at 01:50 PM Cook has surprisingly been the most consistent player on the offense this year. I don't think he's had a single fumble either which is really impressive. 1 Quote

Sign him. 2 for 13 or 3 for 11 1 Quote

I got you there... I really need to stop posting after 10pm LOL... didnt really pick up on that... so everything I said before, I think it was a reaction to him not being in the pro bowl... saying just get paid blah blah... but yes, I think he knows his brother is at least in talks for an extention. Not that they will agree, but if I am Beane and I see him as part of our future core, I am going to try to get that done at a fair price... I think based on what he said, it sounds at least like they are not at a standoff and maybe are close to an agreement... I guess we find out after the SB... 1 Quote

Doubt the Bills have approached Cook at all in season about an extension. Agreed with Dalvin batting for his brother. But I'm willing to bet that the Bills and James Cook's representatives had conversations to gauge the stance of each other. Both sides may have come away with positive feels. I just don't get the wording of "a few weeks". Looking at Beane's contract extension history. It's clear he likes to do them a year before the guy hit FA (except QB position), but his timeline is usually training camp before the season so that he knows the guy works hard all spring/summer for a contract year. Warriorspikes51 Posted Friday at 02:50 PM Posted Friday at 02:50 PM Well....considering he was snubbed a Pro Bowl.... I think the OL is going to maul in the playoffs on the ground and Cook is going to play at an elite level Allen can feast on play action 2 Quote
Don Otreply Posted Friday at 02:52 PM Posted Friday at 02:52 PM I suspect Beane is way ahead of all this hyperbole we see on the net, Dalvin is just hyping up his brother, it’s just SOP for how things are done nowadays, GO BILLS!!! 1 Quote
atlbillsfan1975 Posted Friday at 02:57 PM Posted Friday at 02:57 PM Anything less than $10 mil is fair, $8 feels like a bargain. Quote
Doc Posted Friday at 03:01 PM Posted Friday at 03:01 PM (edited) Sounds like Dalvin is saying a new contract is coming soon and that will do the talking about his worth, not a Pro Bowl (snub). I'm hoping the numbers are reasonable. Edited Friday at 03:11 PM by Doc Quote

This is the kicker that no one saw coming, or even in him. You'd think a big play from him would come from Josh throwing him the ball or some carefully schemed screen play of sorts. Instead, plain inside tackle runs where he used his vision and speed to make it happen. Someone said Josh helped. True, like Lamar Jackson helping Henry and Allen certainly makes the DEs to think twice about crashing down the line, but main credit of those big runs is on Cook. You may argue he is THE homerun threat of Bills offense this year. I want to see how he does in the playoffs though. Does he make a material difference where Josh does not have to play superman every down? In the past years, opposing D would go into a playoff game saying don't let Diggs beat us and spy on Josh. What will they say this year? Don't let Shakir beat us, or don't let Cook beat us? 1 Quote

I was against paying him after last year, saw him as a slightly above average back who will get paid too much. I now feel like he is way above average and think Buffalo should pay him and retain his services. He has earned it and he helps our offense, he is not a Singletary, Moss etc. 1 Quote

He looks like he’s running half speed and he’s still breaks long runs he will occasionally plow someone over too Yea, he’s got one more gear 🚀 Quote
