I have a Marantz receiver for surround sound, but I’m afraid to start playing with settings. The Sonos we just control with our phones. I may need to look for the manual and see what I can do without messing things up.

So are the Sonos speakers connected to the marantz receiver? Or no?

Nope, just have them scattered around the house and run off our phones. I can watch TV w/ surround sound in the family room while the wife listens to music around the house.

Are the surround sound speakers Sonos too? Is the Marantz receiver in use or not currently?

I'm just trying to understand how you have everything hooked up.

how do you get surround sound for movies? How do you watch movies? Streaming? Or Are you talking movies you watch via a DVD/blu ray player?

you can PM me if you want.

KEF speakers are for the surround sound powered by the Marantz. Sonos are totally independent. I think you’re correct that there is a setting on the receiver that I need to find to get the rear KEF speakers working when we use the TV for music.  It’s great when there is music in a movie, but not as good when just streaming music.
