Perhaps.  I think it would be simpler with a more guaranteed incentive, like # of snaps or just playing in the game.  In that scenario, I think they'd sit him anyway, then do a mini-restructure to give him the incentive money in the offseason.  I think that's pretty common when a player misses out on an incentive by doing what's best for the team.
 

In this case, where a sack is far from guaranteed even with a full workload, Hypothetical Whiny Von wouldn't have as good a case.  (And if Beane wanted to be a dick, he could point out that Von's suspension cost him much more opportunity than getting vet rest.)  Ultimately my guess is that Actual Von will care more about the potential for injury and chance to rest for the playoffs than he will about the $1.5 million.  If he plays on Sunday, I'll stand corrected.

He volunteered to take a massive pay cut this past offseason. This act saved us significantly more cap than cutting him this year would have. Releasing him instead of keeping him on the reworked deal for 2024 would have been cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Let him play and try to get his sack. Not doing that is Mike Brown level stuff and that sort of word gets around fast.

 

Healthy, not healthy, I'm not sure he brings much to the table anymore anyway and I'm certainly not counting on him to close out anything. He can't bend the corner anymore. What McDonald was doing last week is what Miller used to be and that's what we need. He's not that guy anymore and that guy isn't going to magically appear in the next 10 days.

Let's make sure Taron Johnson plays all game; he only needs 1 more INT for his $250k.

Same goes for Taylor Rapp, he needs 1 more.

There are other Bills close to incentives too.

 

I'm not ragging on Miller; his job is to get sacks in the playoffs.  He could have easily got his extra $1.5M if he didn't get suspended.

Heck, if Von gets 3 sacks he gets an extra $3.5M.  I mean where does it stop with him, his incentives go up to 15.

I want Von tearing it up in the playoffs.  I could care less about a meaningless end of season game.  So should he, IMO.

 

I'm personally hoping Sam Martin can get one more punt inside the 20.  He gets another $100k if he does.

So true. The bill buchanon of the board will be out to rain on the parade.  But it will be about a week after we win it all. They will avoid the boards for a week and come back with a "this is why we won't win next year" thread

I don't buy this because they all knew the suspension was coming so it was undoubtedly factored into the negotiation.

I'm all for giving DaQuan some help for 1 qrtr by telling him to forget about the ground game and go get the QB and incorporating some twists to get him free.

I just didn't mention it because this is a thread about Miller.

As for the INTs; they're too random and both of those guys are too important to monkey with that, imo.

The counter to that is don't get suspended for 4 games then you could of had 4 more tries to get that 1 sack. I'd sit him
