Mad that Payton saw his arse (got upset) about not being allowed a TD in Super Bowl XX. Yet we could be denying a bona fide legend 1.5 million bucks and a young rb his benchmark yardage.

It makes no sense. The whole reason he was signed three years ago was to play in the post season not in a meaningless regular season game. 

 

Even if Miller did play, likely Groot, Oliver and maybe AJ will sit, so Miller would probably be facing double teams all day.

But he agreed to take a pay cut on the basis he'd have the opportunity to earn some back. I hope he and Beane could have a sensible chat about it but he might justifiably be pissed if the "opportunity" is scaled back by a game.

Pay him roughly the probability of getting a sack multiplied by $1.5M.  Make everyone happy.  Something like 33.3%* 1.5M = $500K.  Problem solved!  And at the same time offer new incentives, if they don't already exist, for sacks in the playoffs!

That's an interesting question, the way it seems he's played now on a rotational basis to keep him fresh for the pass rush, it really wouldn't make any sense for him to play in a game where you rest your starters, but McDermott/Beane aren't the kinds of guys who'd screw a guy out of a pay day like that. So it's kind of a weird tug of war between giving him a shot but we wouldn't have played him anyway so it's not like they'd be trying to screw him over if he didn't.

Well, for what will look like a cold weather preseason game, it will be interesting to see how that plays out. How much, if any, Von will we see?  So, there you go, something interesting about this game. 😊

Just tell him he's going to play the whole first quarter with no gap or contain responsibilities before he shuts it down for the day. Have DaQuan keep crashing the Guard to keep him out of Miller's hair and run some sets that have Cam Lewis walking down to show blitz. That is an honest effort to get the guy his sack while not unreasonably endangering his health. If he gets it, great. If he doesn't, hey we tried now let's move on.

As a side note, some of you who are repeatedly ragging on a Buffalo Bill because he blew up his knee are really embarrassing.
