Of course they do.

Players will never play to lose, and the coaching staff will never instruct them to lose. And I'm not sure an owner would have an easy time getting an OC to intentionally throw a game via play-calling, either. Certainly nobody's going to feel good about it, especially against a division opponent. Everybody in NE knows what's at stake here-- not just the '25 draft, but jobs, resumes, stats, and quite a few futures beyond playing for the crappy '24-'25 Patriots*. Personnel decisions are probably the most reliable means to that end, and GM Eliot Wolf is probably going to be the one the most on board with the tank, whether he has a future in NE, or not.

Clapp.and toothill up

Amari Cooper didn't travel with team due to personal reasons.

I did not see Clapp as the guy they elevated.  Wonder if this means they are giving Van Pran Granger the start at C?

Cooper seems to keep his private life very private.  Detecting it online is above my paygrade; he was one of 4 kids of a single mom and an incarcerated father and very poor as a kid; he may have a long time girlfriend named Destiny Jones who was a graduate student in psychiatry at Alabama State after dancing there as an undergrad, but I can't find out if he has kids.  All I can say is he's not in the news for any bad reasons.

Buffalo Joe.  We don't have anyone else.

I wish the game was on TV where I live.  Watching Buffalo Joe play the whole game would be the main reason why I would sit down and pay attention.

No. It’s all on the GM and coaches to make decisions about who they play and coming up with at least plausible excuses for it. 🤣

I'm also in this camp.  The "boatload" of picks from trading the #1 is going to be much less this year - it could actually be one of those years where the #1 pick team is 'stuck' with the pick with no one willing to pay a ransom.  Regardless - getting some extra picks and doing something with them is a crap shoot.  F them

Strongly disagree. Right now there are 2 QB prospects that are viewed as top prospects in Sanders and Ward. In the teams scheduled to pick top 10 right now, I count SIX that need a shot at a franchise QB (Titans, Browns, Giants, Jets, Raiders and Saints).  Now obviously, there are going to be free agent QBs out there (Cousins for instance) that will reduce that number between now and then. But you also have teams like the Colts, Seahawks and Rams that may be in the QB of the future market as well.

Either way, supply and demand is a big problem. If the Pats had #1 pick and wanted to move, they would likely have a wide array of offers and not have to slide too far back IMO.

I think that whenever someone mentions a team trying to lose on purpose, they are talking about the organization as a whole......specifically the front office.  No player is going to play this game trying to lose.  Why would players, especially at the bottom of the roster whose position these new high draft picks are going to be coming for, want to lose on purpose?  No....it is the responsibility of the GM to make sure the game day roster is put in the best position to achieve the vision of the organization with the guys that are playing actively trying to win.  The interesting part in their case is the coaching staff.  If they are on thin ice and know they aren't likely to come back, they may be super aggressive and do everything they can to win.  However, in some cases if a staff knows they are safe, they may toe the company line and punt from the offensive 35 on 4th and a foot.  They could be a wild card tomorrow.  But yeah....the players that are playing are definitely going to do everything they can to win.  The front office can make decisions going into the game that make that much more difficult.

see I think that’s wrong. It DOES mean something to you if they trade it for a couple impactful 2nds.

we play them twice a year and that could haunt us for a decade +.

I don’t think they have any idea what they are doing and Elliot wolf doesn’t scare me at all.

they feel a lot like schoen and daboll in NY.  No clear idea of what to do.

This is getting out of hand. Just play football.  Those on the field will be going after it to show what they have for next season

Yup,  lots of folk here trying to figure out how two teams can lose on purpose without it looking like that’s what they are doing, lol, guy’s livelihoods are literally at stake, they aren’t going to purposefully shoot themselves in the foot as the saying goes,

Also, based on my research into his social media posts, if he was corn, he would be creamed corn, and he’s intelligent, devoted, loyal, selfless and a bright light to all around him.

The backup players can still show good tape for their futures, but have the HC make stupid play calls and mgt to intentionally rob #1 pick. McD has some experience in this matter ;-o

Pumped for Buffalo Joe

On IR with a calf after he started the NE game for Milano/Williams.   (Williams, though injured, came in for him in the 2nd half )

Would be eligible to return if we make the AFCCG but apparently the calf problem he was on IR for recurred and he's aggrevated the other calf too trying to compensate.

It's why I've been expressing concern about the Bills depth at LB.

No reason to worry. AJ Klein has been locked in a janitor closet since the Divisional round last year. He's ready to be unleashed.

Cool story but no they wouldn’t have

He's not wrong, but if they didn't implode with turnovers they also wouldn't be the Pats.

If he takes the online test, I see him as more a bloodhound.
