The problem isn't the LBs so much as the undersized DTs.  If those guys up front can't hold the point of attack,  the LBs arent going to make much difference.

Exactly...if we had 3 fast strong thumper LB's you could survive weaker DT's.  But guys like Bernard are 6-1/220. They don't stand a chance against rbs like Henry.  Then you run a 4-2 and you're asking Milano/ Bernard to cover alot of real estate.

I never have much cared for the light in the ass LB's. From Alonso to Milano (though he is over 220) and Bernard who is barely over 220.

I want LB's 230-240 plus.

Ulofoshio, who is never active is listed at 239.

It's not because he's smaller. All LBs get injured, especially MLB/ILBs. They play an ultra violent position.

Zach Thomas was injured and missed games all the time, Paul Pozluszny was injured all the time, look around the league and there are a ton of LBs out all the time.

It's just part of LBers. That's why it's good to be at 3-4 deep.

Looks minor like a bad bruise/ contusion. I saw the post game pics and there was no ice or wrap on the leg. He was joking around with his teammates.

the kiss of death.

Can we just, for once, hope to have KC injury luck for the Playoffs?

Not sure why they’re listed in your post.. they’re getting healthy as ever right now.

Only major injury they have is Rice, who they were able to replace with Hopkins.

Hopkins hasn't replaced Rice's output--not even close.

I love Bernard. I really do. I was thinking something last game and knowing this coach….I know better than to assume he has the brain to understand this. I don’t want to lose Bernard, I WANT us to play 3 LBs on the field. We never come out of nickel. It’s infuriating.

BECAUSE we don’t…I’d really like to see what our defense looked like with 58 and 42 on the field. Those guys are bigger and more physical. And maybe we don’t get run all over. I want 3, 58/43 and 42 out there…but since we can’t ever come off this nickel. I selfishly would like to see what that looks like. I also know McDermott. And this idiot would play a totally different guy at MLB if Bernard was out. Just like last year against KC. If Bernard was out. I’d love to see what Milano and Dorian looked like together. Fast physical hair on fire playmakers

I’m not opposed to drafting athletic undersized LB’s in Rounds 3-5 like they have, but that seems to be far more logical on a team that prioritizes big DT’s.. not a team that also wants quick, undersized gap shooting / pass rushing DT’s.

This all day long.  We can have the little guys running around at MLB/WLB. But we really need a stud 1T and maybe a more effective 3T for the little people to hold up all season.  All of our guys look maxed out in their frames.  Except Andreesen.  And Milano,  who I think is a little fat and slow at the moment.

Agreed.  KC is back healthy and loaded.   They will be an incredibly hard out in KC.   But the Bills have done this before with a lesser roster.

It’s a quad injury per coach on his interview. Sounds pretty minor, and he said more day to day than week to week. Coach even said the only way TB would play this week ( in this meaningless game vs Pats) was if they had some major fallout at lb depth. The quad injury type also does not indicate an injury typical to being a whopping 10 lbs lighter than average lb size in the 2024 NFL.

I think it's the fact that "week to week" was merely mentioned is what is throwing everyone off.  If McDermott came out and said "it's more day to day" and nothing else, none of us would be sweating his availability.  He did say, "more day to day than week to week", to your point, but again, the mere fact that a week-to-week injury was implied is the reason everyone is scared, including myself.. lol

Is this a practice injury? We can’t stay healthy on the back 7 ever

No.  "The injury occurred during the game with the Jets"

Bernard came out 1 snap before Taron Johnson and 3 snaps before Benford and Douglas

Maybe someone who has the all-22 can look and see if there's anything at that time of the game that looks like a possible injury?

Taron Johnson came out after the Jets 3rd drive of the 3rd Q with 5:13 left

Of course it's always possible he injured it earlier, and toughed it out until the Bills went up 26 to 0

Buffalo Joe might be capable of starting

what did he have, 8 tackles in the 4th?

1 for a loss was impressive

He looked good.  Of course, by that time the Jets were looking for the bus, so there's that.

But we really need a stud 1T .

Easier said than done, There are only a handful of them playing at any sort of high level.   If you remember Linval Joseph, he's still playing for Dallas.  Not a lot of 330 - 350 pound humans with the athletic ability to play 0 or 1 tech in the NFL.  Daquan is still graded in the top 8 of the very large humans that play in the trenches.

I truly hope this is just coach speak and/or over-cautiousness, because if this continues.. a philosophy shift probably needs to occur with how we build this Defense.

Sounds to me like Thad Brown is *****-stirring by making up this "definitely in some doubt for playoffs" schtick.

If a guy is "week to week" with an injury that didn't force him to leave the game, give him 2 weeks and he likely plays.

Benard for me is the weakest link in our defense. It'd be nice to have him for the start of the playoffs, but I think we could survive his absence.

Seriously?

Looks like an excuse for rest/ precautionary and to get our two rookies some reps.

I'm excited to see Ulofoshio, he was a great athlete at Washington.

I'm going to buffalo wild wings to go watch our backups destroy the Patriots.

Thigh Doctor is incorrect about "most LB snaps last week of starters".  First of all that's an odd way of putting it because there are only 2 starting LBs on the Bills.  Second, Milano factually played fewer snaps (35 snaps) than Bernard (37 snaps)
