My point exactly. Did my post come off differently? That's what I meant about Ravens fans hanging on to that Week 4 win like it was a playoff game. It's also a major argument for them in mvp debates. Week 4 means absolutely nothing at this stage, it's a win, nothing more.

Lions offense is amazing but their defense is really really bad.  Lions fans have to have the same concerns about defense that we have with Buffalo - only worse

I think the defense is overstated.  Being healthy is the key.  Buffalo seems to be getting people back at the right time.  Milano is beginning to look like himself.  That will have as large an impact as anything.  Hyde being available if needed will be large too.  I think Mcdermott has the most flexibility in personal he has ever had on defense.  4-3, Nickel, Dime.  I want to see him get in his bag this post season and push the team over the top.

We all hope this is right.  We’ll really need the defense to step up in the playoffs

In terms of points given up, the Lions D is #9.  The Bills D is #11.  

 

Both Ds have been decimated by injury.  I saw a better defensive game vs. the 49ers than I expected because apparently the Lions got a couple of guys back.

Get guys healthy is huge.  Last season injuries derailed the defense.  They have better depth now.  They are more multiple as well. At full strength they can play for scheme and team specific than making work what ya got.

I wasn’t as impressed…they still gave up 34 points and nearly 500 yards of offense.  The difference in the game were a pair of bad INT’s from Brock Purdy and no turnovers from Detroit

regressing in what way?  they've lost 1 game since week 2.  they are scoring at will even their banged up D isn't slowing them down much.

 

this will be the game of the season in week 18...

Well indeed I agree I cant wait for this game like I said a great game... with respect to regressing... I dont know... just an eyeball on it seems like the Vikings are actually starting to peak now... the Lions seem like they are a bit plateaued albiet at a Super Bowl level... I would not have given the Vikings a chance in this game realistically 4 or 5 weeks ago but I am now... thats the best I got for you just my impression.

The rebuttal to that is 11-5 and took until week 17 to move into first place and mainly due to a late season collapse by Steelers.  Until around 3 weeks ago, the Steelers were in a pretty good position to get the 2 seed over Buffalo. 

 

Could give them a good shot and say, "yeah but it's rare that a running back wins the MVP!"

I wasn’t debating that.  No doubt they’ve been affected by horrible injury luck.  I’m just saying that Lions fans might be in the same boat as us.
 

They have an excellent offense and a defense that has trouble stopping offenses unless they get turnovers.

I don't know if the Bills D is that talented even when they are healthy, at least in measurement of superbowl caliber. The amount of big plays given up (10+ yards) is an indicator, and that is regardless good or bad teams. If I'm McDermott/Babich, I would have to have 2 plans at hand. If the normal sound bent/don't break defense is not working, just go for broke looking for big plays. If they score, they score.

That's a great way to do it.  They are 9th in fewest points allowed.  No one cares about how many yards they give up.

I know I just didnt see them in the same class... now I watch them and I am like damn... maybe its just my own revelation... not sure like I said its an impression I get. I think a lot of it probably had to do with me finally believing Darnold was actually for real... and then really watching him.
