valle78787878 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 no way is Jason Peters a hall of famer i think Dion Dawkins is a good player who probably has like 3-5 years left 2 2 Quote

Makes sense as a Dawkins and Peters comp (impressively faster than Peters but smaller/shorter/not as long as both him and Dawkins overall). Dawkins being the least phenomenal of the three, of course. Has anyone ever proposed such a radical idea? He's not tall for a LT, and well I guess I wasn't sure how functionally long he is (arms are decent length (34.65" is above avg but not at all elite). Dawkins is probably an awesome basketball player. His agility/feet helped him register a 8.4/8.8 RAS even with questionable height and explosion at a weight (314) much lower than even his end-of-season lbs these days. Seems like a guy who maintains his nimble feet even as he adds mass and mocks the funny 320 number currently published. And we know many offensive and some defensive linemen like to maximize mass/weight (without losing too much quickness) in order to hold up in the trenches over a season. Dawkins has proven to be a durable and impressively shifty athlete at this level even with the development of a natural flack jacket (also known as a spare tire). Ideal guard candidate in his mid-to-late 30s LOL No you're not the first you're about the 10,000th person on that board to suggest that in fact half of this board has suggested moving him inside But he is a pure left tackle through and through he is one of the best in the world Any left tackle who is around 6 ft 4 could realistically move to guard but he is athletically top notch and has been nothing but a stalwart for Josh Allen 1 Quote

It's amazing how completely his play has shut that down. But also I was being a little serious in wondering if bumping him inside towards the end of his career could make sense and keep a valuable guy around, like shifting an excellent, but slowing, CB to S down the back half of his career. Dawkins doesn't have elite length to "lean" on if his feet get a little heavier eventually. 1 Quote

Shoot, I didn't know McGovern and Edwards will be free agents next year. That helps explain why Beane drafted a center so high in VPG. Not much depth at guard, especially if they want to keep Anderson available to play as a sixth lineman on plays. High draft pick coming? But re the thread, I agree it's nice to not worry about the tackles or even the depth at tackle. The play of the line this year might be the most important factor of the Bills' success this year, aside from the Supernova at QB, followed by the excellent trio at RB. Three elite units on a team with, arguably, no other unit much above average anywhere. (One big caveat: the defense's penchant for big plays, which recall the Super Bowl Bills.) Quote

foreboding Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 On another note. If we were in the Viking age, Spencer Brown would be our king. You gonna challenge him? 1 Quote

Yeah both McGovern and Edwards are UFAs after the 2025 season. And SVPG was drafted in the 5th round, so not high at all. His development will determine what happens with McGovern. Not sure if they're going to extend Edwards. Quote

Magox Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 What I really love about this pass blocking unit is how they are beginning to employ the ***** trap block technique. It used to be that the only lineman I'd see use it often was Dawkins, but I've noticed that his usage of that technique has increased. Then I began seeing Spencer Brown begin to use it and he's been using it more often as well. Now I'm seeing that O'Cyrus Torrence beginning to use it. Such a powerful and helpful technique that not only helps the lineman with that particular play but it also makes defenders think twice on how they attack the lineman. 1 Quote

Just find a mountain of a man to clog the middle of the DLine, and we are looking good. I think we have a guy Mike Edwards on the practice squad who is listed at 6-5 363#, That's close to mountain size. Edited December 31, 2024 by BearNorth Quote

Seemed like at least one opponent left the field with assistance while looking out of an earhole of his helmet on every return. It's unbelievable that Peters was an UDFA 330 lb. tight end when he signed with the Bills. Quote

Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) Dawkins has improved each of the last 4 seasons. He just keeps getting better with age. He’s got great hands and feet. He looks like he’ll play at high level into his late 30’s. Spencer Brown is turning into a stud. If his back holds up he should continue to improve. I think easily these two should be bookends for Josh Allen for 3 more seasons at least. Not only that but I can see this entire OL being together for another 3 seasons at least. The one coach I won’t forgive the Bills for letting leave is Aaron Kromer. Hopefully they lock him in for life. The Patriots and Chiefs never changed OL coaches.
