They will give him a quarter I reckon to achieve those. Cook needs 19 more rushing yards and yes the 1 more TD. I think that first drive with Josh and the starters is ALL about getting Cook his 19 yards and hopefully 1 more TD and to keep Josh’s start streak going. Then to the bench they go. 4 Quote

Josh played an entire half then. But that was three posts seasons ago. If you listened to the press conference McDermott stressed that it would be short. I think he’s playing maybe one series at most. Quote

McD said the consecutive start streak is important to Allen and he wants to respect it. I’m perfectly fine with this and like that McD honors it. Now, if he plays more than one drive and does anything more than hand the ball off or throw a quick screen, different story. This is what I expected. Get Josh the start just to keep his streak as its important to him, then pull him. At most a drive. 7 hours ago, Kelly to Allen said: All joking aside I hope trubisky gets some real work. Remember when mahomes had that mild concussion in 2020 vs Cleveland and henne had to finish the game. Trubisky needs to get some reps. Frank Reich also had to win in some big spots in the super bowl years. Obviously if Josh gets seriously hurt our run is over, but he needs to be ready if Josh can't finish a game from a minor sprain or injury Same with Samuel, Davis, Van Demark, Solomon,Elam, Bishop etc. In 2022 KC had to use multiple rookies on defense, especially in the AFC championship and they were ready I want to see the rookies look good Id like to see White get some work too. He likely gets called up in case Tribuski gets hurt anyways. 7 hours ago, No_Matter_What said: Great. So now Acho will come out and say that Allen can have early PO exit and still consider season a success since his consecutive start streak is alive Its not Acho that said that crap. Acho has been on Allens side since all this MVP talk started. Quote

I would actually call up Hamler and Gore Jr. Or one ps wr and RB That way if it's an emergency, and we need them, at least they got some reps Can only call up 2 players. Mike White is a lock as there would be no backup QB in case of injury other than Allen. 1 Quote

Look, he's our hero, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's not human with human flaws, nor does it mean that as an admirer I need to admire everything he does and says. Of course his teammates support his goal. I would, too, out of respect and admiration for him, not necessarily because it's a noble goal. Yes, maybe the streak means something to him that I know nothing about--a promise to his grandmother or something--but I suspect it's an ego thing. It's fine: trivial, not a big deal, and very easy to shrug off, even be fond of, maybe. But I am mildly surprised that Superman is human. You’re still not understanding, YOU assert it’s “trivial” but that’s your opinion of the streak, clearly it’s not Josh’s view. His stance is being backed by Sean McDemott, who said yesterday in his postgame press conference that he’d be sitting down with Brandon Beane and Terry Pegula to discuss how to handle Week 18, so clearly they came to the agreement that this wasn’t “trivial” like you want to believe it is. Why is taking pride in being available week in and week out being viewed as a negative? You’re making this out to be some weird attack on Josh’s makeup and priorities. Exactly. Sometimes fans forget that somebody actually has to play the game. No 90 man rosters in regular season football. 1 Quote

Getting really close to Jaws too. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_consecutive_starts_by_an_NFL_quarterback That is nuts that Brady had THREE streaks over 125 starts and they rank 10th, 11th and 12th all time. (First one was broken by Bernard Pollard, the second by Deflategate, and the third by his merciful retirement.) It’s also nuts that Aaron Brooks started 84 consecutive games while throwing 84 interceptions over that same span. Look it up. Edited December 31, 2024 by BRH 1 Quote

Add to this to put 2 practice squaders UP for the game that means you need to declare seven guys inactive. Even the guys that sat last week went into Sunday with "questionable" designations so as of right now there is no reason to assume anyone is definitely OUT. Let's work on everyone being healthy. How do you deal with the seven inactives to allow you to have 2 PS guys up and all your backups up if you want them to play most of the game? My guess is something like: Cooper (vet receiver, important to opening the outside up for the rest of the offense need him for the playoffs) Kincaid (you will have Morris and Knox and can use Gilliam / extra lineman) Von Miller (had two decent games back to back, if it was really all about keeping him fresh for the playoffs why risk him in a meaningless game) Jones (you have six DTs on the active roster, feels like a chance to give one of your starters a night off and the Bills usually rest the more veteran guy first in such situations) Milano (had his best game but again, wrapping a vet in cotton wool) Douglas (been struggling a bit with the knee and again I always err on the side of the Bills resting the older guy first when between two at a spot based on their history) Rapp (if they want to get Hyde up then this is the route to do it potentially, Rapp is their best safety in a weak room) Critically as well none of those guys play special teams. That gives you 46 active roster guys: 2x QB; 1x FB; 3x RB; 2x TE; 4x WR; 9x OL; 4x DE; 5x DT; 5x LB; 5x CB; 3x S Which means your likely call ups are a 5th receiver and a 4th safety with an outside chance of a 3rd tight end. So let's say they go Virgil (who could also rest Codrington on returns) and either Cine or Hyde. I think then you are looking at pulling Allen, Cook, Shakir, Dawkins, Brown, McGovern, Oliver, Rousseau, Bernard and Benford after max 1 or 2 series. So the lineup looks something like: Trubisky, Davis, Knox, Coleman, Hollins, Samuel, Grable, Edwards, Anderson, Torrence, Van Demark Epensea, Carter, Phillips, Smoot, Andreesen, Williams, Lewis, Ingram, Elam, Hamlin, Bishop Then later (mid 3rd Qrtr maybe) you probably want to pull one of your guards, Coleman, Knox, Epenesa and Hamlin and get Virgil, Morris, Solomon and Hyde / Cine on the field. That is broadly how I would expect them to play it based on their general approach to these things and the challenge of managing the roster. Edited December 31, 2024 by GunnerBill 1 1 Quote

jwhit34 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) There are only 2 practice squad call ups allowed per week. The most important would be an OL player, either Clapp or Gouriage, so the entire OL can be pulled. After the Allen plays, the line should be Grable-Anderson-Van Pran-Clapp/Gouriage-Van Demark. They will not call up Gore, they will use the 2 plus Gilliam. We got a preview of that Sunday. It could be Hamler or Virgil, but more likely a DB. Codrington-Elam-Ingraham and 2 safeties will play. Could be Hyde but maybe more likely Cine sees some action. McDermott alluded to wanting to see how some players have progressed. He doesn't need to see Hyde play. They have plenty DL men on active roster. They probably have to call up Mike White. So I will go with OL and QB, Edited December 31, 2024 by jwhit34 1 Quote
