If you love Allen, then you should respect his desire to keep his streak alive. The men in the locker room clearly respect his desire to keep this thing going. Maybe take a second to understand his reasoning for it instead of putting your negative spin on it? Edited December 31, 2024 by JGMcD2 6 1 5 Quote

So now Acho will come out and say that Allen can have early PO exit and still consider season a success since his consecutive start streak is alive Bless you. 1 hour ago, finn said: Seems like a silly streak to care about. Does he want to be seen as an iron man or tough guy? His many enemies will be eager to divide his TDs, yardage, and so on by an additional game to argue his stats aren't impressive. 1 hour ago, finn said: Yeah, but the men in the locker room know the difference between playing through pain and taking a few snaps to keep alive a streak. The men in the locker room also know what a warrior Josh is and has been, especially this season. He's healthy and will start, play a few plays and then leave the game. There's no shame and no one serious will hold it against him. 1 1 1 Quote
Beast Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) I want to see Allen fall down to the turf, grab his knee and scream….then get up and say “gotcha!” And run to the sidelines. In that few seconds this place will explode! Edited December 31, 2024 by Beast 1 1 2 1 Quote

MasterStrategist Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Can only elevate 2 from P/S, some fans tend to forget this. It's also very challenging to plan around backups playing and S/T. Roster mgt in these situations aren't a preseason event at all...some starters will need to play significant snaps. 2 1 Quote

It’s a streak that matters because of the perception from the men in the locker room, he doesn’t give a damn if media or fans see him as tough. I agree with you. The streak is not nothing. I think about Andrew Luck and his early retirement. Seemed to be that he grew weary of the constant cycle of injury, pain, rehab and the effect it had on the quality of his life. I think about Brett Favre's 321 consecutive games and his addiction to pain medications that helped make it possible but also could have killed him. The NFL version of football is brutal to the human body which, paraphrasing Doug Whaley, it wasn't designed to play. I would not begrudge Josh one bit for taking pride in his streak because we have no clue what he has gone through to make his 120 consecutive starts so there is no reason to trivialize his not not wanting to just arbitrarily end it. He plays like he is indestructible but we know that can't be true.🤞 Edited December 31, 2024 by JESSEFEFFER 3 Quote
BearNorth Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 i want to see Buffalo Joe get reps as a LB, not just on teams, he is a good sized linebacker that would help us vs the run and screens., Plus as an old time Bills Fan, I love that 44 is back on the field on a player from Buffalo. 2 Quote
stevestojan Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Josh getting injured on one handoff to keep a silly record alive (silly because he’ll literally play one down just to keep it alive) would be the billsiest thing of all time. 3 1 1 Quote

He’s given so much to this franchise and played numerous times hurt. If it’s not silly to him, let him start the game. He’s owed that. They’re going to play it safe. If he gets hurt on a handoff Super Bowl wasn’t in the cards this year Quote

Sierra Foothills Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 I did a bit of research. Not that it means anything but the only time in Josh's NFL career where the last game of the regular season was meaningless ahead of a playoff berth was in 2019. The 9-6 Bills had already locked into a Wild Card spot and played the 6-9 Jets, eventually losing 13-6. Josh played in the first two possessions, covering most of the first quarter. Of course at that time he was in his second year so there might have been some priority on keeping him sharp. Now in his 7th season, this might not be as much of a concern. https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/_/gameId/401127973 Quote
