The coaches and players don’t care about next year’s draft pick position.  They want to win/do well for self-satisfaction and/or job security/auditioning and/or incentives.  Mayo may have been told he’s safe so the outcome doesn’t matter but the players may have other ideas.

Players don’t care about draft position.  Why should they when many won’t even be rostered next year?

But coaches definitely are aware of draft position especially when it comes to the #1 overall pick.   I guarantee you it’s something that has been discussed internally.

Best example has to be Lovie Smith in Houston.  It sounded like he coached for the W as an FU to the front office because he knew he was a goner.

Right it's like asking them to play worse for their future replacements.

That's fine.  I could not care less about a consecutive games streak.  Other than a SB the only thing I'm rooting for is for Allen to get MVP.

Allen definitely cares about it. It's a point of pride for a lot of QBs, hell when Eli Manning's streak was pointlessly broken it got McAdoo fired so that should tell you something.

None of the QBs impress me.  Not Miami and certainly not Colorado.

Maybe no one will move up and the Pats will take Hunter

They'll get something. Too many coaches and GMs jobs are based on their QB's performance. If your seat is hot like Daboll's and Pierce's you may only have one chance to keep your job so mortgaging the future means little to you (and GM) because if it works: you have a good QB that is going to help you win or you'll be fired and not have to worry about it

Why, because if Trubisky goes down we're screwed?

If Josh gets a concussion halfway through the Wild Card game I'd much rather have Trubisky on the field than Mike White.

Yes. Josh's streak is 110 consecutive starts... 12th most in NFL history.

The question in my mind is whether he's going to play one series or one quarter.

At the very most he will play one series. Would not be surprised at all if he takes one snap and then comes out of the game.

Really? Why? I literally just posted the opposite in another thread. White can make plays. Trubisky has been bad every time he gets a chance to play.

Wouldn't you love to see a flea flicker? The entire world is expecting a hand off. Would be the easiest TD pass of his career.

Maybe it's just the memory of us picking off Mike White four times when the Jets thought they collected lightning in a bottle with him.

Has to he one of the worst QB drafts in quite some time! Some dumb team will overvalued Sanders.

On the flip side, is there a consensus non-QB top player? Hunter? I don't think there is a Myles Garrett type guy out there either.

I've read from a few draft evaluators that Sanders would've been taken between Daniels and Maye if he was in the last draft.  If a team thinks that's true they'd absolutely trade for the first pick.  There's a lot of QB needy teams like the Raiders, Giants, Jets, Titans, Browns (maybe), and Saints (maybe) that would package a trade to number one if they thought Sanders would be the guy to turn around their franchise.

Agreed..Draft picks are over valued..they are a crapshoot anyway.  If your scouting team has identified the player - the team will go after them.
