I mean it's smart...the Giants just screwed themselves over with an offensive explosion for no reason to win a game that pushed them down from #1 overall to #4 overall.

Patriots would be fools to win this game. They have no need to draft a QB and could trade the #1 pick for a massive haul(maybe to the Giants) that will accelerate their rebuild by infusing a lot of young talent around Maye.

The only wrench in that is if Mayo thinks that he’s coaching for his job. That’s why the Giants balled out.

Patriots have $132M in cap space AND will get all those high picks.

They are looking good.

Draft picks can also be traded for established players.

Bad teams are almost always loaded with draft picks and cap space.

This is going to be such a bizarre game.  I can guarantee that NE executives and ownership want to lose this game and hold on to that #1 overall pick to use it as they please.

Meanwhile the Bills better have Allen and any other important starter in track suits on the sidelines.  If they don't they are idiots.  To hell with a consecutive games streak no one cares.

So it will be the battle of backups and if the Bills lose that will hurt New England.

Allen is taking that opening snap to get the start, better believe it

The coaches and players don’t care about next year’s draft pick position.  They want to win/do well for self-satisfaction and/or job security/auditioning and/or incentives.  Mayo may have been told he’s safe so the outcome doesn’t matter but the players may have other ideas.

That's fine.  I could not care less about a consecutive games streak.  Other than a SB the only thing I'm rooting for is for Allen to get MVP.

Neither is good. Just get through the game

LOL in the end... if either of them need to play in the playoffs we have big problems..

The Patriots problem right now is coaching. Mayo just flat out isn't ready for the spotlight.

Be real, are we really concerned about the genius Alex Van Pelt running a high powered offense? Drake Maye has some talent, but I don't expect NE to be a hot bed for talent to come there

Yup

From Wikipedia.

"Following the team's 7–9 finish the previous season, their first losing record since 2000, the Patriots spent a record $163 million in guaranteed money to sign new free agent acquisitions. 11 free agents were added to the roster on March 19, with the largest contracts awarded to linebacker Matthew Judon, tight ends Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, cornerback Jalen Mills, and wide receiver Nelson Agholor. In the 2021 NFL draft, New England selected quarterback Mac Jones 15th overall, marking the first time the Patriots drafted a first-round quarterback since Drew Bledsoe in 1993"

They made the playoffs, got embarrassed and haven't recovered since. Tell me who is buying the groceries and doing the cooking and I'll tell you if I'm worried

Same thing that happened with the Bears this year. They got a loaded roster, a shiny new QB, a bunch of big name players and a lame duck coach. Until Mayo shows himself to be up for the job, NE is irrelevant

Idk if mayo is good or not

what I do know is their overall talent level is college level.  Terrible OL, WR, meh RBs, meh TEs, zero playmakers on D other than Gonzalez. Worst roster in the league imo.  Hard to evaluate a 1st year head coach with that.

Except the patriots have none of that right now.  Their roster is awful.  Until they get some talent in the roster- the coach is irrelevant too

I agree - the thing that will make me happiest is keeping the coaching staff.  Maye and draft picks and cap room dont scare me today - add a great coach and culture change and things would be more likely to turn around imo - but would still take years

His overall premise of doing what you want no matter what anyone will

say is fine but dumping drake maye for the sanders/sanders combo feels like an all time awful decision to me haha

deion seems in over his head in college I can’t even imagine how he’d look in the nfl

Maye has looked like he might have it, but at the same time he has 1 win. Patriots didn't do him any favors starting him 2/3 of the way through the season or so but still as ***** as his cast is Allen's in 2018 had to be as ***** and he still got 5 and while he did start from week 2 on, he did miss some time due to injury.

I feel us crazies can make some $ this week as we know more about the back end of roster than Vegas.  I need odds for Gilliam recieving Td and Solomon sack.

I feel like Cook getting a TD for the record and a few yards for 1,000 is a high probability.
