Star Wars acting wasn't the worst so far

For me, I despise the movie 'Magnolia'. It did nothing for me. I found it overly pretentious and dull. HOWEVER, I also can admit that it is well acted, well directed and is well written (from a technical standpoint)...it's just not MY taste.

If you hated Magnolia, you should check out I Heart Huckabees. I'm certain that it was made just to make otherwise intelligent people feel like idiots. Philosophical masturbation at its finest.

BTW, I didn't think Magnolia was that bad...but I see your point.

For VA to make assertions that movies such as Saving Private Ryan, Seven, Good Will Hunting etc are BAD films simply because he doesn't like them is insane (even more so when he considers Cheaper by the Dozen and Patch Adams as examples of GOOD cinema).

No reread what I said. Obviously comprehension isn;t your strong point. I said exactly that. There are some good films I don't like. There are some films I like that are not neccessarily good films. I recognize that, but the ones I pointed out I neither enjoyed nor felt they were good films.

You just said it again! Maybe you should work on clarifying your thoughts. <_<:D "Nor felt they were good films".

Your entire point this whole thread has been Hollywood doesn't make good movies anymore. That is flat out false.

Actually, that's almost entirely unlike what you did.

The films you pointed out, you specifically said were "good" films.

I said "what I consider good films".

Yes, but you know as well as I do that you were talking about what films are generally considered "good," not your own personal opinion. You saying this points that out:

So what that, 11 or 12 in about 7 years that are good-great. Not very good odds.

You also said:

Like I said, very little ability seem to be coming to the theatre any more.

If you think there's only been 11 or 12 good films in the last 7 years, then perhaps you should stop watching movies, as it's a waste of your time.

You select "Daddy Daycare" over "Saving Private Ryan", and I'm supposed to understand what you're trying to say???   <_<

Yeah I do. You have a problem with that? Maybe BF can point you out in the Atrium next time you're there. :D

Actually let me change that a little. DDC is not really a better movie just more enjoyable to watch. SPR probably is a better made movie overall, just IMHO not enjoyable to watch.

Okay...so now we've gone from "what I consider good" to "what I neither like nor consider good" to "what I consider enjoyable, whether it's good or not".

What, are you channelling TracyLee? Your definition of "good" is all over the map more than her definition of "legal"... :D

From one movie review, saw quite a bit of the same.

Daddy Day Care" doesn't avoid the cliches, it is one. It's not funny, I chuckled once or twice but that's about it. Eddie Murphy is good in this film, and Steve Zahn plays a good "Star Trek" freak, but that's about it. When "Daddy Day Care" was over, I thought back upon how much better movies like "Mrs. Doubtfire" were, that though recycled were actually funny and amusing. And then I overheard a child not more than eight or nine, leaving the theater, who said, "That movie was funny." It made me think twice. This film really isn't meant to be a movie for adults, and it doesn't and, I suppose, shouldn't really appeal to adults. I have mixed feelings over just how to recommend it. I came up with this: Adults stay away, but kids will have a ball. I just wish all films could be as equally enjoyable as "Shrek" or Pixar films. One can only dream.

2/5 stars -

As they say, to each his own.

See, I am not the only one. As Jesus said, "To see the Kingdom of Heaven, one must be childlike". Guess I fit the mold. <_<

BTW, Mrs. Doubtfire is a good movie, on every level.

In stature, at least.

The singularly most insipid piece of unwatchable crap I've never managed to sit through in its entirety. "Mrs. Doubtfire" is "Tootsie" after a bad hit of acid.

BTW what about this review for your beloved Star Wars:

Drink the Kool-Aid. Wear blinders. Cover your ears. Because that's the only way you can totally enjoy Revenge of the Sith -- the final and most futile attempt from skilled producer, clumsy director and tin-eared writer George Lucas to create a prequel trilogy to match the myth-making spirit of the original Star Wars saga he unleashed twenty-eight years ago. Fan boys, of course, have convinced themselves otherwise. So have several critics, if you go by early reviews.

Seems like the reviews for Revenge of Sith are far worse then what was said about DDC. <_<

Or this review:

And still the dialogue is astonishingly feeble, the acting unforgivably wooden. To paraphrase Yoda, the only creature with truly human dimensions ever since Harrison Ford's cowboy-mechanic Han Solo departed the galaxy: Bored I am.

My beloved Star Wars....

right, Bill....

Put down the remote, and back away from the keyboard. Keep your hands where I can see them...no, higher....

Well I didn't write those reviews. All the words are spelled correctly.
