Clearly we have the best OL coach in Kromer. You see what transforming potential does with these kids and we consistently have underdeveloped potential every season with our DL. We need to figure out a way to lure Smith away from the Ravens. He’s the best positional developer of DL and pass rush talent in The League. Bring him in as the DC in title with a focus on the DL and pass rush.

He's the pass rush specialist and he's only been with them for 2 years.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that the Special Teams Coordinator will not be back next season.

I wonder if there's any possibility that Babich is still auditioning for his job... or if he's safe regardless of how the rest of the season plays out.

I worry that he’ll be swindled away. I don’t blame him for the state the interior DLine is in.

No chance Babich gets a HCing job next year. I’d even be surprised if he got any interviews.

Even though Babich and McD have worked together a long time i feel last years D was much better when McD was calling it ! I think Babich has a lot more to learn he isn't close to what the Bills need in that position .

If I'm betting Babich is safe.

Look, I realize it hasn't been great on the defense at times this year and especially lately. But Babich is a first time play caller dealing with somewhat of a youth movement on his side of the ball and the team has dealt with massive injuries on defense most of the year.

He's also been an excellent developer of talent. Letting him be one and done would be a huge mistake. Now, letting him keep the reigns next season with the idea that if he underperforms McDermott takes play calling back is the way I think you go here. Losing him off staff would be a set back IMO.

I am confident Beane will address the D Line once the 70m dead cap stranglehold is released after the season.

With a bunch of guys that will play 50 percent of snaps. It’s comical how much we spend on dline for these guys to play 1/2 a game

Ravens D is 12 in points allowed.  Ravens passing D is 29th in yards allowed---they were 6th last season.

McDermott wasn't dealing with the kind of injuries Babich has been dealing with.  Yes, Milano - same.  But c'mon, we've also had 3 games without our MLB, 3 different games without BOTH our starting safeties AND 2 of those without a starting CB in addition.....

I think it's a push, myself.  I think there are times when Babich has called a more aggressive and attacking defense, and times when McDermott might have called a better defense.

One thing I like is that they actually change the scheme a bit to match the personnel on the field.  Leslie Frazier was 100% "Next Man Up, nothing changes".  Babich is "you know what, I'm not going to expect Cam Lewis, Cole Bishop, and Kaiir Elam to play the same zone with the same connectedness and precision as my starters did.  Let's man up and eat!"

That has been a fair point for a while.  McDermott's insistence on a DL rotation means we can't really go fo the gusto in great players, because we have to be able to resource enough players that are 'starter' quality vs having a big talent dropoff.

Well you do make a good point about the injuries for sure .

The starters in the secondary aren't that great when they aren't injured.

I'm hoping McD takes over play-calling for the playoffs.  I get wanting to give Babich his chance to prove himself, but it's crunch time and Babich isn't getting any HC'ing jobs next year.

McD has too much on his plate when he  calls plays and has to be head coach. He can barely keep up and make sound decisions when he is only head coach.

Leave it alone.

DQ is old and maybe washed, 91 takes whole games off. 40 is a senior citizen.  57 looks lost half the time. How is McDermott calling plays going to change that?

I'm not saying that they are, but that rather adds to the point, right?  If you have not-so-great starters and you replace them with their backups, it's an issue that different play-calling from the DC is not going to solve.

Skewed by early results. In the last 6 games, they have given up 181, 202, 112, 181, 198, and 153 passing yards. In terms of total yards given up, they have averaged 267 over that 6 game stretch (and just 16 ppg). They are arguably playing the best defense in the NFL right now.
