Most Memorable Opening Movie Scenes

1. JAWS. "Where we going?", "Swimming!"

 

2. Star Wars. Seeing that Star Destroyer fill up the entire movie screen was awesome. Then the appearance of Darth Vader.

 

3. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Fantastic prologue.

 

4. Saving Private Ryan. Intense and exhausting.

POLTERGEIST is also memorable with its national anthem playing followed by TV static. The days television actually shut off. 

That's a very good opening scene. I think that "Scream" has become outdated, but that scene is a good opener.

 

Another horror movie that I would say has a good opening scene would be "The Ring".

Django Unchained........when buddy says to the slaves, "in case any of you are star aficionados, the north star is that way"
